V6 Dual Exhaust Options

So for this Christmas I plan on buying a few gifts for my car. The first is dual exhaust. I have an '06 V6, so I was wondering what my options are. I've been reading on here for some opinions but haven't really found an answer.
I want a deep, throaty sound for my stang. One to replicate a V8 or maybe even deeper, louder, if possible. Which dual system is the best for that? Also, I know of a good exhaust shop by me where I can get the work done, but should I purchase the system online or just go to the shop and have them order it for me then install it? Thanks guys.

Flowmaster American Thunders seem to be the most popular choice for the best deep V8 "Like" sound...............Us V6 guys will never get a true V8 rumble......Oh Well Good Luck in your quest!!

I wrestled with exhaust for my V6(when I had it) You have to decide what your looking for. The Porsche Caymen S has a V6 in it, in fact I believe most Porsche's do. The point? People like the way that car sounds and it has a smaller engine then your V6, I personally think it sounds a little tinny especially when they change the mufflers. Now with this V6 you need to ask your self, Do I want the closest to a V8 sound I can get? Or do I want a more melow refined sound that while not a V8, sounds more like a high performance sports car. I thought I wanted the first, and chose the Aeroturbine MRT axel back. For a number of reasons this muffler did not work for me, see I have found that the more you try to make it sound like a V8 rumble the higher the buzzing sound of your muffler at full throttle. For exampe if the muffler sounds deep at idle I found that it tends to be rather tinny and prone to cause interior drone especially durnig daily driving. In my opinion you have three options, 1. Dual GT take offs, they are cheap and sound very good on the V6, 2. Ford Racing/Borla exhaust, these are a little more throaty then the GT take offs but never get high pitched enough to sound like a fart can. 3. Magnaflow, the shop that installed mine sells both Magnaflow and Flowmaster, the owner told me for these V6's he always uses Magnaflow because the muffler is packed a little tighter then the flowmasters, and by packed he means that the inside of the muffler has different chambers that are designed to isolate certain sounds and make others more pronounced (the inside kind of reminded me of a maze). My magna flow sounded a little louder then the stock V6 muffler but at full acceleration sounded mellow but agressive. Dual magnaflows can drone but I have not expierienced this first hand. The last thing I want to tell you about is the shape and design of a muffler. Avoid cylindrical shaped mufflers, as these have very poor methods of sound isolation and can make the center console rattle (happened to me with the Aeroturbine) also if your having a shop do it pick your own exhaust tips as most of the buy online mufflers are designed for the GT's longer rear bumper cutouts and when put on the V6 is sticks out pretty far and in my opinion look incomplete and cheap (like an accord with a gopher launcher on the back of it). I hope this helps you and I wish you the best of luck in your search.

Vistablue Mustang pretty much nailed it. Our V6 will never sound like a V8, no matter what you do. Just search out some sound clips and decide for yourself. I went with the GT takeoffs and I'm happy. Prior to that I ran a JBA single and that sounded good as well. The only one I didn't like was the flowmaster dual setup. In my opinion it had a loud obnoxious tone - like a truck. Strange because on a V8 they sound pretty good. Anyhow there are plenty of options out there so good luck!

Ok so after surfing a few forums and catching the mod fever that so many others have caught, I have decided to do more than just the exhaust. I'm going to do dual exhaust (still torn between magna and flowmasters), headers, 3.73 gears, 8.8" t-lok LSD, and window tints. All this possible for under 2k?

I just upgraded mine to a dual exhaust using the new Ninosport dual conversion kit and GT mufflers. I like the sound, and the price was right! (I kept my stock bumper, and the GT tail pipes do stick out quite aways, but I actually like the look. ) I got the GT mufflers and midpipes (which I didn't need) for $150 bucks, and the nino kit is on their site for $250. but, right now they are running a variety of specials with the kit and mufflers ranging from GT take offs to all kinds of different ones.

Would be helpful and its on every other forum ive been on

I think i'm gonna go with dual ats and the nino conversion. easy diy kit and it should sound good. this is where i nailed my decision.

Here is an old link to my dual MRT set up. It is loud but it sounds great.

one more thread I am not sure if any one else has this set up?

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...highlight=dual

I went with a C&L CAI from Doug and an SCT tune with an H pipe hope this helps. If this is a daily driver you may want a resonator? Hope this helps.
