I have both the auto and the stick shift 05s. I drove the auto for the first time in about two months yesterday and afterwards I took the stick shift out and I cant believe how loud the tranny is on the stick shift. Has anyone else noticed this?
Both have the GT takeoff exhaust and on the automatic you can hear the exhaust pretty well, however in the stick shift its barely there, the tranny is loud, almost like it whines and then there are times when it sounds like it is "chain-driven" if you can make sense of that?

Is it just me? or does everyones 5speed seem loud? I have 2200 miles on it now and on the auto their is 7300 miles.

I only notice some noise which I believe to be normal. It doesn't bother me, and most of the time I don't notice it, so maybe something is fishy with yours because I havent modded my exhaust, and I can hear it pretty well.
I'll be sure to take notice next time I take her out, because it could be that it's all normal to me.
I have real similar miles to your manual too btw.

It is definately load and does make some "whining like" noises. Dealership told me (and bunch of other people) that this is normal.

I just came home from my drive about half hour ago, and noises aren't loud. I can barely hear it. Makes me wonder just how quiet that Auto is lol

I have an auto, and I've ridden with Vintag in his manual. His car sounds very different from mine. The Tranny does some different things with sound resonation and such. Kinda cool really.

I have driven quite a few manuels cars and each one has been diffrent. Got to say this has been the loudest of them but I figured that it was normal.

Sure cool ridding in Stanger's Auto it's seems almost like a diffrent car.

My ' 05 V6 has the factory Tremec T-50D 5 sp man. The only time I notice the transmission is hard acceleration in 3rd gear. In 3rd gear I get a 'whining sound' or 'syncro' sound in 3rd. My car was built May, 2005. Not sure when your manual car was built -- perhaps some of the earlier cars had earlier Tremec's with minor differences versus the Tremec's used on more current production cars?
