URGENT NOTICE SCT OWNERS - Critical Firmware Update Released

Firmware Release Version: 1.2.142
Importance: Critical
Action: Update all X3 / SF3 products immediately

SCT has released a new version of the X3 (PN: 3000) / SF3 (PN: 3015) device firmware - Version 1.2.142. This is a critical update that resolves issues found with prior versions of the X3 / SF3 firmware.

All SCT customers & dealers are urged to update their device(s) to this latest firmware revision using the SCT Auto Updater Software immediately. Dealers with X3 / SF3 devices in stock are urged to update their inventory to the firmware version 1.2.142 prior to selling these devices or should encourage the consumer to update the device prior to installing it on their vehicle.

FAQ's:

1) I don't want to update my device. Can't I just back date the firmware to resolve the issue?
No. Back dating the firmware may cause additional issues and will not resolve the issue.

2) My car / device are working fine. Should I update to the latest version?
Yes. This is a critical update and your device should be updated immediate to prevent any future issues.

3) Where do I get the SCT Auto Updater Software? How do I install it?
The Auto Updater Software is available on SCT's website or Click Here to Download It Now.
The following instructions will explain how to install the software and use it to update your device. Click Here to Download the Instructions Now.

This is taken DIRECTLY from SCT, I'm sure a few of you have gotten this email but I wanna make sure this information is available to all. Feel free to copy this message to any place you think it can help!

Thanks, Doug

so doug, to clarify a little more, should people do the update and then reload tunes we are running, or is this more for future tunes and or uploads?

does it have anything to do with the tunes, or just for the tuner itself?

Just the tuner itself, not the tunes.

thanks, Doug

Is there any public information available that describes the conditions of the problem and resolution? (Or is that not normal practice? I've got my computer/Info Tech hat on here.)

The updater shows an update for my iTSX but it says there is a Tunes update not a firmware update.

Make sure you return to stock first and also have a copy of your custom tunes on your PC to reload them. If the only custom tunes you have are the ones that the tuner put on your SCT before shipping to you he will have to email you a copy. You can't pull tunes off the tuner to your pc.

my tuner updated when i opened the program, i did return my car to stock first, it didnt effect( or i didnt loose) any of the tunes i had on it. i hadnt had any issues with my tuner or tunes before. i`m guessing everything is cool with it still.

i have read on other forums, some people recommend not updating it. that its only something for the newest cars and can cause more trouble then its worth for some people. it would be nice for sct to release just exactly what is up with the issue, before saying its a critical update and thats it.
