Just goes to show you that TQ is the great equalizer... Scrming's car with the 100shot is at 384RWTQ 253RWHP... He runs a 13.4.. A stock GT is @ 265RWHP and 272RWTQ.. They run a 13.5+...

So as you can see, TQ is the most important in the 1/4 mile because of the short distance... HP only kicks in after the 1/8th marker in 4th gear...

Scrming could beat a 700HP Eclipse in 1/8th mile racing... I sure would love to watch it.. The grandstands would go nuts!!
Yep, another good example is the 99 M3 my neighbor brags about so much. He knows I have a 6 and he thinks he would spank me in a race. His is stock except for a muffler he put on. I watch him work on it every weekend, but I peeked under the hood and for the life of me, I can't tell what the heck he does all day on saturday, maybe just changing the fluids. But looking at this stats, I think it would be a good race:

HP: 240hp @ 6000
TQ: 225lb @ 4250

I think off the line a 1/4 mile I could take him due to the difference in TQ and at what RPM it is available. I think our cars is 240lb at 3300 RPM? With my mods I think I can count at least 18lbs more than stock if I am conservative????

What do you guys think? I would love to have a M3 kill on my belt and I know he would go to the track to do it. He's a cool guy, and he did dig the stang, he jus digs BMW's more.

A 98 M3 runs 14.0 in the 1/4, so I think you'd lose. Just get Zex.

scrming can make that claim but I don't think anyone else here can. Including me because I don't have any timeslips with my NOS.

Zodiac has enough N/A HP and TQ to get the 99 M3.. Forget about a 2003 or 2004.. But he can get the 99!!!

Yeah that was before the tune... hopefully I can pull a little lower now. We'll find out next week. Its sad the only track open around here is an 1/8th mile now.

Thats good Zodiac!! You can shoot for an 82MPH 1/8th mile.. Or as close as possible..

Scrming I believe runs an 82mph 1/8th.. So that may be too much for you without NOS.. But you can try and get as close to that number..

Looking at the DragTimes database, it would be nice to see where you sit N/A against the other cars.. 1/8th mile racing does serve a good purpose, for helping you to figure out a few things.. You know with Scrmings time an 82mph 1/8th is on track for a 13.4 run somewhat.. Since you current TQ is around 241ftlbs. I would guess a good 1/8th for you would be 76MPH..

I think you will be close to this Subaru with your current setup.. Hopefully..

If you can break a 76mph trap speed on the 1/8th, depending on by how much, we can somewhat predict where your 1/4 will be..

I really dont see why.. no a/f change or anything like that that's tunable.

don't the eibach springs hurt your drag times because they don't facilitate weight transfer as well as the stock ones? didn't scrming have 'em but pulled em because his 1/4 hurt from em?

Unfortunately due to the poor weather here I was never able to really verify the difference lowering springs made vs the stock springs... I had the H&R springs with dropped about 7/8 of an inch... stiffened the car up quite a bit... but you could tell the car was not squating hardly at all... with the stock springs and rear drag shocks the rear end squats right down! Just haven't been able try it out at the track... so... now I have to wait until spring...

Id like to know more about the springs and weight distribution...
They're stiffer so it seems it wouldnt promote weight transfer as much.
Of course, it would be attemping to transfer the same weight, and using the same amount of force. So while it would squat less, the same amount of force would be applied towards the ground. Now, only with something stiffer holding it down.

The exampe in my mind I have is this... take a long coiled spring and press it to the ground. Let it go and imagine how high it would come off the ground on the recoil. Now, take a shorter, stiffer, spring and using the same amount of force press it to the ground, and imagine how high it would recoil in comparison.

Now, while the longer spring will compress more in length, the shorter spring being stiffer and resisting the compression more will still transfer the weight downwards by the same comparison.... it will resist compression more, but in doing so more force is also being applied downward than the longer spring.

I guess its going to depend a variable between change in the length of the spring v. change stiffness.

Man, who knows physics around here.. Ive got a headache after that.

Just wait til next track season, when I smoke some ricers. I got to see a 700HP eclipes today.....or that is what the owner said....unfortunately he cant get into the 12's.....guess he is having a hard time putting the power to the wheels.
my buddy vince ran a 14.16 in his 1200rwhp viper on friday, but that was just to see what kind of power it had (he just got it) ya it was a 14.16 but it was at 134mph lol. His best run of the night was 11.46 @ 138mph (street tires) and they kicked him out for not having the proper roll cage.

So yes it has to do with puttin the power to the ground, but even then, there is no excuse for a 700hp eclipse to stay in the 13s all night, he should have been 12s all night with maybe a high 11.

They should improve mileage a bit... maybe 1-3 mpg with a light foot.
