42 lb injectors won't be an improvement over 39lb. You either need the fuel or you don't, and the 39 lb injectors are more than sufficient for that kit.

Yeah no big diff there. The 39lb injectors are what the 03 Cobra uses and pumps out a s#itload of power with those...

Got an email from Explorer Express today:

"Hi,

Thanks for posting the picture.

The preliminary prices are:
CA spec kit $3495.
Hi-po kit, includes 30 lb injectors, larger MAF, conical air filter and SCT Xcal tune $4195.

Both will ship as complete kits with no extra parts required. The instructions are very detailed with many photos.

The parts are ordered. We should have most of the big parts in a few weeks.

Thanks for your inquiry,
Dave Vanek
Explorer Express"

I got pretty much the same email a few weeks ago too.... seems like they should be saying months not weeks at this point... It will be a great s/c - but I think they are still tooling and trying to get a fully working unit it seems...

I just got the injectors, plugs and Diablo tuner today. Despite the e-mail I received to the contrary, I did not receive a new fuel pump. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what's up.

The way I see it, there must be a reason for the change from 39lb to 42lb injectors. I have a hard time believing they will run correctly on the stock fuel pump, however. All the more reason to give them a call and see why I didn't get the new pump.

My TT should be in Tuesday. After that, I'm only waiting for the shipment from ProCharger.

I have very high hopes for this kit. For the price, I really see it as the best option. If money was not an issue, I probably would've went with Mike's turbo....

BlackLX4.0,

Try this, I put a copy of them on my server, my links are static, for some reason, a lot of these boards have issues with links that are dynamic.

See if these work:

http://www.rygen.net/stang/files/msp2.jpg
http://www.rygen.net/stang/files/msp3.jpg

If anyone else needs some hosting of images let me know.

Ok, thanks. I sent MSP my email addy. He's going to send me the original pics of the Vortech after he polished it. Or he could just send them to you I guess.

He just gave me the new pics. You can hit them here:

http://www.rygen.net/stang/msp

The msp-sc-1 through 3 files are the polished ones, resized to 640x480 so they don't fill up the entire screen, but are big enough to see nicely in a thread.

Later.

Flap when I read they went to 42lb injectors my first greedy hope and thought was 1. Maybe they tweaked the head unit and tune to produce more HP and needed 42lb injectors or 2. Most likely reason they starting seeing some problems running 39lb injectors and decided go with 42lb injectors. But I diff agree there is a reason for the change just like to know what it is. I have been talking with Procharger in the past and Mark a few times they are suppose e-mail me some info per 2006 release.

Let us know what they do on the fuel pump and nice going with the TT.

Quick question for you by any chance did you get your Procharger from SFL? When you can PM where you purchased your PC from.

I am still deciding between Mike PH and the PC looking forward to seeing your dyno sheets.

For the price you bought it at anything over 330HP I would be ok with.

Hey Jimp! I was just wondering, whats the amount of time must I run 12psi reliably before you will add that the 12psi pulley upgrade is available? I think once I get it, and everything comes out ok, it should be apart of the original post, stating that a one size pulley upgrade is available for X amount of dollars, which needs or does not need additional tuning.. Think about that one.. Just like the Procharger has a 6PSI and a 9PSI kit.. If I can prove that 12psi is safe, it could be worth noting... Also, the amount of HP increase will be something of true value..

I am still in my preliminary stages with the pulley upgrade.. Maybe by the end of this week, I will have it completed.. I'll let you know!..

I can add it. I feel like I should put an asterisk next to it, something that says "not recommended by Vortech" or something similar. You're the writer here, you tell me what to put and I'll do it.

Looks like I need to first upgrade the fuel system Jimp.. The fuel pump is $156, and the pulley is $80.. Plus possible installation for the secondary fuel pump.. Dyno time, and not sure about an adjusted tune yet.. Thus far, going to 12psi will cost about $336! So we will have to see if the gains are worth it.. This price is without a tune.. I'm still going to try and pull it off using the stock Diablo tune, using the fuel system upgrade to make sure the A/F ratio stays where Vortech sets it in the original tune.. So I need more time buddy!!

So $336 is the project without the price of the secondary fuel pump installation.. I wont even attempt doing it myself.. So the final number could be above $500 without another tune.. If the tune is needed, then we're talking $600+ for a 2psi upgrade coming from a stock system.. Are the end result gains worth it? Thats the question which will have to be found out..

Just so the thread stays precise.. The fuel system upgrade is due not because of FWHP, but because of exceeding 10psi of boost..

Fellow V6ers... Lightning blower on SOHC
http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=616140

I thought you guys might enjoy this. Once its all finished up (more tuning left), it should be putting down around 260rwhp and 300ftlb. A guy over at rangerpowersports.com dynod at 290rwhp and 330ftlb through a manual, Im running an auto. The SOHC has a lot of potential with just stock internals. As you may know, Pro Charger has a kit out and Shelby will be putting a blower on their V6s, so my setup should last a while. I hope to see more forced induction V6s out there in the future, nobody expects much from them, but have the potential to run with the V8s with some work. Seeing as some of you are putting down 200+rwhp with just bolt ons, a blown S197 V6 should be awesome. Hood clearance might be an issue with a Lightning blower, but there isnt enough room in the late model Ranger engine bay for a centrifugal like the Pro Charger thats out for the Mustang. Just make sure your fuel delivery is there, I have a SVT Focus pump and 42# injectors (long story with why I went to such a heavy injector). I also have a home made water/alcohol injection system set up in the truck to help pre detonation issues, the SOHC is somewhat a high compression engine for blown applications.

For more serious power adders, check out www.supersixmotorsports.com. this may be old news to some, but Id like to see a quick V6 turn out.

Hope you enjoy it, let me know what you think.

I see the Dashworks Powerdyne unit is now for sale on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...mMakeTrack=true

According to the description the head is a self-contained unit needing no oil changes. Strangely, other than the Dashworks website searches (here and through Google) have not turned up anything on this unit. Anyone know anything about it?

That Ebay ad has more info than their website, which has basically none. I'd like to believe their claims but 310rwhp at only 6psi sounds too good to be true. I'd like to see a dyno sheet and hear from someone who actually has one installed.

I agree, I suspect that number is with the optional intercooler, and even at that it might be optimistic.

I've been trading emails with the seller and he sent me the instructions for it. The instructions are not too great, but it appears to be a relatively simple installation with the exception of having to remove the harmonic balancer. I've done this on older cars and it is a PITA. Not sure about the new 'stangs though. Anyway, even if the power is more in the 260 range it would be a decent setup for the price.

He also verified that it is a sealed unit that does not require oil. He said the maintenance interval is 75k miles, it needs a belt (not the serpentine belt, the blower has a separate belt) and bearing replacement every 75k. That's not bad.

Could you find out why they require the removal of the Stock harmonic balancer? I find that somewhat strange.. I dont think any other kit requires the change of the stock oem harmonic balancer.. That could mean problems in the future.. Please follow up on this issue... What are the conditions behind the removal and replacment? Sorry if this question appears to be an uninformed one..
