Look at the way this thing brings cold air in through the back, into the stock air box, and then into the engine. They claim no flash necessary. Outside air is always the coolest and it has ductwork for rain water. Combined with a fiberglass or carbon fiber hood this would be a really nice mod.

Um, not exactly new, and it doesn't fit the V6?

Knew it was for the GT (it is called a GT shaker system). Unfortunately, nothing gets made for the V-6 unless it gets made for the GT well in advance. What I didn't realize was that everyone had one already--I must seem so far behind the times dah-ling. (Rather, quite silly of me, huh, huh, huh.) Really now, how old could it be, the car's only been out for just over a year now.

But seriously, with 1,246 threads in here on CAIs (and before anyone flames me for that I am making up the number, but you get the idea) I haven't heard any recent discussion of any true cold air systems. While the current CAI offerings are all good, no one is going to get any more hp out of them until they start sucking air from somewhere outside the engine compartment (remember: every -10 degrees F = 1 hp). I merely offered the link as a topic for discussion (after all, it is a forum).

No worries man, the shaker hood is a cool upgrade. Shame that it is for GT only right now. I contacted CDC about this recently and they said they are working on a shaker hood for the V6 and that it will be around the same price as the current V8 offereing. They had no specifics as to release date though. Would love to do this when it come out though!!

Thumbs down

I too sent an e-mail to CDC asking about a shaker system for the 2005 Mustang V6.

"Are you working on a shaker for the 2005 Mustang V6? If so, when do you estimate that it will be available? If you have chosen to not offer a version for the V6, why? What problems did you encounter? I'm willing to try if you are not."

Their reply was:

"Hello! Thanks for the interest and questions.

We are currently gauging market interest in the V6 kit, and are considering its production. If you know of others that are interested in a Shaker system for the ’05+ v6, please have them email me as that will definitely help the cause. Unfortunately, timing has not been established as the project has not yet received its official green light, but I would venture a guess and say that it could be released within the next 6-8 months. Again, that is a rough estimate at best.

I hope this helps – please let me know if there is anything else we can assist with. Thanks again,"

I have seen pictures of this, but not with the article included. 19 HP, not bad, but that is on a GT. I like the straight-line approach too. What I really want to see is some sort of through the hood, ram-jet (or straight-line), cold air intake that has ducting for bad weather and works with a carbon fiber hood (with pin locks!) Now that would be awesome!
