Transmission slipping
#1
Is anyone else having problems with their trans slipping, especially in first gear?
I have an auto.
When I press on the gas, it hesitates for a moment, then the rpms go up, maybe 500 rpms and then come down and then the car moves. It doesn't really go in first gear, it just sort of jumps to second.
When I'm driving, I press on the gas and it seems to have more resistence intitially, and then it gives in. Again, the rpms shoot up, drop and then it's okay.
I did notice the gas pedal has more resistence when I have the cruise control on. When I'm driving long distance on a highway, I usually set the cruise control a little above the speed limit in case I see a cop I have the speed preset. THen I drive as if it isn't on at all. So I noticed the resistence with the cruise control. I turned it off and the gas pedal felt normal again.
I know I didn't properly explain all of this. I really don't know anything about cars, but if I bring it in to Ford and don't explain it right, they won't do anything about it.
Thanks

Mine does the same thing. I think its the normal operation from what I have read before. I did notice after I put the Magnaflow exhaust on that it don't have the initial hestitation at all anymore.

My sisters 04 Rav4 does it bad too. It does have that slipping feeling, especially if you were to give it some extra gas to get it moving.
I wouldn't be to worried about it though, seems like its only minor, and yes its basically normal operation.

3000 miles. It's been doing it from the beginning, almost.
I'm going to try disconneting the battery and see if that helps. Someone said it could be because I babied it so for the first 1500 miles and the car got used to that driving style.
It seems to be getting a little worse, or happening more often. I guess I should wait to take it to the dealer until I know the car will do the same for them.
Has anyone noticed a difference in the gas pedal when using the cruise control? It seems harder to press down.
Thanks
