Arrow S&B Cold Air Intake

I have been wanting to add a CAI for a while now...I want one that doesn't require a tune. http://www.rpmoutlet.com/05v6snb.htm

It says a true 14HP increase without a tune...Is this accurate to those who have this?

Also, if I do decide to get Doug's Bamachips tune (SCT II) down the road, what kind of gains shoul d I expect to get after it?

How does this compare to the AEM Brute Force? It says 19 HP gain, but is this with a tune?

Thanks in advance

I have AFE http://www.afefilters.com/54-10291.asp and am happy with it. It can be found for way less than MSRP. I haven't heard of the CAI that you found, but the price seems like a steal since it includes an intake tube (assuming this tube is an improvement over the stock). It is also a nice looking CAI. However 14HP without a tune sounds a bit high. AFE claims 12 HP and I think Afixer (search for this username on the forum) had a first one of those installed on his car and Dyno showed that gain. However, I think that it is more reasonable to expect something in the area of 10HP from a good V6 CAI without a tune.

I have the Airaid CAI in my car, and I do not have a tune, and I LOVE IT!!! I run it with the Modular Venturi Tube installed (you have to, or the MAF Sensor will go crazy with too much air going to it) But when the time comes, when you want to add a tune, you don't have to get a different system, just take the tube out. Airaid's own gains had a 17HP advantage, and a 10lb-ft torque advantage, and recently one of the Mustang magazines did a test on this set-up and got 14 or 15 HP gain for a GT,on their tests, and for the V6, its just a little less. I noticed a definite difference in punch, and especially the sound of my car when I am at WOT. There is another guy on here that has this setup and loves it too. Plus, the setup looks real good when you have your hood up at shows. I get alot of compliments when people see just how big and beefy the airtube is. Good luck with your decision.

The MVT is the tube that goes inside the actual air tube that leads from teh filter to the throttle body. See, the size of the air tube is much larger than factory, so they put the MVT inside the actual air tube, and the MAF sensor goes through both. This MVT tricks the computer to think that the air coming in isn't changed, but actually once it passes through the MVT, there is much more air going into the throttle body. Here is the info from their site. Just click on the below link:

Airaid system for V6 Mustang

The only thing I was wrong about is the MVT. That feature is only on the GT version of their system. But even without it,the gains on this setup are impressive, and they have been substantiated by magazines. Hope this helps out.

Hey Joe, I have seen the V6 system on Ebay for selling around $240, with free shipping, to $15 shipping. Now, I got my GT version which usually has a street price of about $300 or so, for only $240 shipped! Anyone can get this setup from a Ford dealer in AZ. I don't know if the mods would like me posting the dealership's name but if I can I will, and give the name of the fellow to ask for. He gets them directly from Airaid, so no middle man.

MRT (Street Scene Design) intake does not require tuning either (and it looks better than much of its competition too!)...

I don't know, I get a whole lot of people who like the way the Airaid system looks in my car. They like that its not metal, and it looks beefy, and substantial, both the intakle tube, and the airbox.

Its all purely a matter of personal taste and opinion. I had known about the AirAid product well before it was released to the marketplace and spoke about it frequently with the folks at AirAir (here in Phoenix) and the AZ source that you mentioned.

I have no doubt that many people like the intake... its well designed and looks great! In my personal opinion and that of a number of people who've seen the MRT intake, the MRT intake looks awesome, substantial and beefy! The carbon fiber air box with its big K&N cone filter looks and performs well and that metal intake tube adds a little bling to an otherwise un-exciting engine compartment.

Joe, call Sanderson Ford, In Arizona. Ask for a Wade Kazmerek in Parts Department. You can do a google search for the dealer's website to get the number. He sold me my GT system for $240 Shipped, where normally its $300 before shipping. He can get you the best prices on the Airaid system since the company is right down the road from his dealership. Good luck with it.

Question

I am also wondering what CAI to get. I am also looking at the S & B system. It is covered on 2 sides which I like. I am always worried about water hitting the airfilter. Is there a chance of that happening. I've seen the airraid system in person and it looks nice. I'm just not sure which one to choose between K&N, S&B, or the airraid system. Any opinions?
