PHP's 05 V6 runs in the 13's (w/o power adder)

I was at the local auto parts store with my dad and saw the latest 5.0 mag on the shelf. I couldn’t resist and picked it up. I’m glad I did! In there was a small article on PHP’s 05 V6 Stang. It is running 13.9 at 97 mph on a 100 degree day. Paul Svinicki thinks it’s good for 13.5 or 13.6 on a cold day. What is really interesting is the fact that they didn’t put a major power adder on it, and its putting 210 to the rear wheels:
Of course the list of mods is extensive and expensive when you add them up. Here is what is in the project car:
• PHP V6 air box kit
• PHP A/C bypass belt
• PHP/SCT tune
• PHP alternator under drive pulley
• PHP V6 engine mounts
• PHP V6 strut brace
• PHP upper and lower rear control arms
• 4.10 gears with GT 8.8
• Slicks and skinneis
• Rear seat delete
• Sound system delete
• JBA shorty headers
• JBA H pipe with cat converters and dual exhaust
Of course this is with slicks, but I thought it was a good read and provides a blueprint for getting into the 13’s without a power adder. I’m just wondering what Doug or Lideo can do with a tune on this setup. Didn’t Doug’s CAI tune put nearly 210 to the wheels?

Yeah, I read some posts about it... they ran here in michigan (milan)... was a big V6 shoot-out...
Right now i'm at about 194RWHP with an 89 Octane tune... but that was before I switched wheels/tires... I'm going to Lidio's on Thursday to see what kind of numbers we can get with 93 Octange gas and NO N2O... Hopefully be over 200RWHP...
I'm guessing they some nice gains with the pulley setup and A/C bypass.. Been looking at this... 12-15RWHP gain... hmmmm...

Slicks are going to make a huge difference...

Hmmm, how much of a difference does it make to the AC. It gets real hot here in DC during the summer and this is my daily driver.

Is that with a stock tune Scrming? Meaning, they swapped out the pulley, and dyno'd? Or is this a pulley swap, along with a tune?
If it is 200RWHP based on just a pulley swap, then it is safe to assume that with the pulley swap and a tune, one could be at about 220RWHP+?

I think the "AC bypass" means there is NO AC! so, yes, it will make a difference

Thanks for confirming, yea...this is not an option for me. I need my AC, it gets really humid here during the summer.

Screaming once your car is set up after the 93 tune, can u please ask lidio about the total timing we should be running on 93 , since he said he did not have a 93 tune he sent me the 89 one but i always run 93 so that would be of help .Thanks again.

He also has Wilwood brakes on it as I called because they are using Weld Draglites and they wont clear stock V6 or GT brakes. Add another $2000 to the mix....
As fully pulley upgrades a underdrive pulley is one of the best bang for your buck mods. It's so expensive for the 4.0 because it is the entire lower crank pulley, balancer and all, but it should be worth nearly 10 whp I would expect.
208 rwhp and 242 rwtq from a C&L, H-pipe/Flowmasters, and 93 Tune on a 5-speed manual. I'm going back today to see what we can get out of a completely stock auto with the C&L.
Thanks, Doug.

I would be very interested to see what you can do with an auto. My car is an auto, and it is my understanding the SCT is better with autos than Diablo. I will be selling my diablo on ebay when I am ready to pull the trigger, probably in January.

Hey Jimp, I say you get everything packed up and head to Laguna Seca! You have done so many mods to your car, you have got to atleast place in the Weekend Sportsman series! LOL!!
It would be really kool if we all lived close by enough to hook up at the track.. That would be real fun..

You should compromise and move down here to the dirty south where the real car fanatics live.. hehe
Someone find me some more info on underdrive pullies. I want. Now. Post-haste. Immediatly. Pronto. ASAP.
Its also a testament to how much slicks are helping on these cars.. phew boy.

That Pulley is a must have, if those numbers are just based on the pulley.. With my last dyno, that would put me at 194RWHP, and 220RWTQ.. Thats without a tune... I wonder what it would be with a good 5spd tune?
