Hey guys, over at v6power.net (http://v6power.net/forum/) we had just had our Michagan v6 Ford Challenge.
PHP showed up with a v6 that with just some bolt ons ran a 13.9, and a 12.8 with a 75 shot.
Just thought i would let you know. Join the forum if you get a chance, we need some more guys with 4.0s. Our timeslip page only has 1 05 on it, well actually 2 after the addition of this one.

Man to hit a 13.9 with those mods, must require some serious launching power. Those slicks really make us look good!
I couldn't find any specifics on which locker he was using, and any other suspension/drivetrain info. Only general info. Any specifics on this?

Oh he couldnt make it? I was really hoping for some good news.. Hopefully he'll post later and update me..
So you think you could run a 13.8et Scrming with a better launch, or tires? Where do you think the 100shot would put you? 13.4 or 5?

My nitrous isn't working right so I didn't run with that. All runs were with an 87 octane tune. I didn't think to try the 93 octane tune once I realized I wouldn't be able to run NOS. My first run I got the best time but the worst reaction time. I wasn't prepared for how fast the lights came down. By the third run my reaction time was pretty good, I'm sure with a few more runs I'd have gotten even better. This was my first time at the track. I pretty much just floored it from idle on the first run. I tried to power brake on the next two but didn't do any better. I'm thinking that with practice and a 93 octane tune I could have gotten into the 14s.
About the nitrous: It has never worked with the throttle the way it's supposed to. I'm not sure why. The first time I tried it, it would arm but not spray. The second time I tried it, it would always spray when armed. I've redone the wiring twice now and tried to reprogram it countless times. It just doesn't seem to recognize the TPS. I'll call ZEX on Monday to try and figure out what the problem is.
Ok, I figured it out Sun morning. I'm going to try and make it back to the track Wed, with the NOS! My best run @87 octane tune was 15.4.

Actually I think we'll stay with the 75HP jets and just do some further tweaking... We pulled extra timing just to be safe... Also Lidio's wideband went on the fritz when we put it in my car... so there's a possibility I'm running a little rich in the 2000-3000 RPM range... Saturday we'll get the car back on the dyno and get a good A/F check and go from there... I think that will definitly help... There is a slim chance I might want to try the 100HP jets... we'll see what the 75's look like Saturday...
Not that I'm not so nervous I think I can get a better launch... I also forgot to lower my tire pressure... d'oah!!!! LOL! I'll be happy with a 13.999! LOL! Of course if I can get Lidio to drive that will help too! LOL!!

Really, at the 75 shot level, you should be around a 13.. Dont forget, your puting more RWTQ to the ground than a stock GT, and they run 13'4's.. The other stang which ran a low 13 or 12.8, oly used the 75 shot as well..
It is at this point, where you should not run more than a 75 shot, until you are atleast running as fast or faster than the other cars.. So with the 75 shot, think 13.00 flat or 12.8... 13.99 means something is not right.. For sure anything over 14 flat means something is terribly wrong.. Be it launch, tune or just driving..
Suffice it to say, that as long as you do not feel complacent running 13.99 with a 75shot... This is important because the rumors could be cast in the wrong direction about the 4.0 V6, and Nitrous.. It is understood that you should be around 13.00 flat or high 12's with the NOS @ a 75shot level... So we know that it is indeed the setup which you are running where the problem does rest.. Not with the NOS or the 4.0..
I believe you are correct about Lidios Dyno however.. Once the proper tune can be attained, I believe you will gain 1 more sec in your 1/4 mile time..
If we referece PowerHouse's run, which was a 12.3 111MPH @ 3490Lbs, then we can say your body weight is roughly 260lbs? This leaves us with a couple of extra pounds which need to get down the track...
Lets say the guys running 12.8 and 13's are roughly 180Lbs... This leave you an extra 80lbs to move down the track to match their ET.. So lets say 100Shot, is what it will take to get you and your car to cross the traps at 13Flat...... I dont buy it.. I think you can still do it in perfect wheather conditions, provided your tune is where you think it should be..
But we must keep in mind, that 80 extra lbs could be in the end why they can get it done with a 75 shot, and you cant.. Might just need to goto 100Shot..
Anyone have a formula on how to calculate Pounds per HP? Or how many pounds can HP move..?
Meaning 25HP can effectivley move 100 pounds a certain distance in a given amount of time... Basically, 25HP can move 100lbs a 1/4 of a mile in a givin amount of time..

Are you really that worried that I might some how give the V6 a bad name because I only ran a 14.00? Come on MSP... lighten up a little...
Remember those other car are running drag tires... I'm running a cheap pair of BFG all season radials... So I'm sure my launching sucks. My tires start to boil even under moderate launch...
My car with me in it is about 3800 pounds... I am a big guy...
This is also my daily driver... how many daily drivers, that are completely comfortable to commute in, that don't sound like a drag car, can even run a 14.00?
Ive spent a fair amount of cash dressing my car up too... not everything was performance related... I'ld love to buy some better wheels and tires... but I'm afraid I'd be on the curb with the garbage cans...

The guy that ran 12.80 with a 75 shot had his suspension really set up for drag racing. I mean, he had the front tires off the ground! scrming is running street tires and basically a stock suspension(the lowering springs probably don't help or hurt his launch that much). I'm guessing the other guy has 90/10 shocks in the front and 50/50s in the rear. Great for drag racing, terrible for the street! So let's not be too hard on scrming. I'd say he's doing about as well as could be expected for a daily driver.

Scrming,
Lets just clear this whole springs thing up. What exactly was the kit, and how much did it lower the car? Most kits will lower the car around 1" more in the rear, which will help weight distribution and placement, especially launching. So.. clear this one up for us bud
