just needed you guys help i have about 12736 miles on my car and i have only been doing the oil change on it i think its thing to change the spark slugs and ingnition wires and what else should i change at this time an advice on what oil i should go to i had always took it to ford but gonna do it myself this time what do i need and how much of it thanks guys

 

I don't know why it would be time to change the plugs and wires. The plugs are good for 100K miles according to the scheduled maintenance, wires are good for longer.

As for the oil, I would recommend Motorcraft for the semi-synthetic, and any good brand name (Valvoline Syn Power, Mobil1, Pennzoil Platinum) if you are going full synthetic. Motorcraft is by all accounts a very good oil, and is more than adaquate for 5,000 mile oil change intervals. The full syn oils will run you more $$, but they will last longer for extended intervals. And for oil filters, I would stick with the Motorcraft one, it is a good quality filter at a great price. If you are looking for top of the line though, Mobil1 makes a great filter, but it is like $10, usually carried at any major parts store.

Correct! Check out the scheduled maintanence booklet that is in the owners manual pouch in your glove compartment. It is a seperate book than the manual. It lists all maintenance items and the mileage for them. That will help!

That is a link to the online scheduled maintenance book. Check it out and just do what it says. The 4.0 V6 takes 5-30 oil, not 5-20. Mobil1 is excellent oil and Motorcraft is a good filter. If you want to spend less $$ though, the Motorcraft oil is good too.

And yes, 100,000 miles before Ford recommends changing the spark plugs. You've got a long way to go before you need to change them.

 

I use full synthetic Mobile 1 in my car (Not the Extended performance or anything).

I definatly would reccomend you go full syn. It may cost a bit more, but it's worth it. Also, I wouldn't go much more than 5000 miles with full syn between oil changes. The oil can easily handle it, but the oil filter will start to break down. If you want the extra insurance, and want to be able to go over 5000 (just in case you need to or something), I would get a good Mobile 1 oil filter. They are made for synthetic oil and can last longer than, say, a standard fram filter.

 

its just seems so long to wait for the 100 k to change spark plugs and wires so is the a certain filter i should go with model number im thinking of going with the mobil oil 5w30 and the mobil one filter

 

better plugs, better wires and cleaner air coming into the engine = longer times between replacement this is also why we can keep oil in these cars longer.

I had a bit of stress on the first vehicle we ever owned that had a 100k plug maint vehicle.. I was absolutly amazed on how good the plugs looked even at 100k.

 

The factory plugs are Platinum tipped, and they will last a LONG time, much longer than standard cheapo plugs of 20 years ago.

 

I'm using 4.5qt Motorcraft 5W30 + .5 qt Marvel Mystery Oil + Motorcraft oil filter.

 

Cripes just leave the wires and plugs alone . You are fine with the factory synthetic blend 5w20 and motorcraft filter. The dealer should check your air filter, it may or may not be dirty yet. You should also spend $10-$20 and get a new owners manual. The factory fluids changed at the recommended intervals is more then enough. No need to start getting 'creative' with servicing your vehicle for no reason whatsoever.
