I have the V6 premium package and was looking to upgrade the wheels. I think i have 16" machined wheels and spinners. If I go to 17" (is this possible?) will i need to recalibrate the speedometer/odometer? How do I do this? Also which tires do you guys reccommend with the 17" wheels? I was thinking wider/lower profile.

Also can I get tires that go with 17" wheels that would match the size of the tires diameter on the 16" wheels, thus canceling out the difference in wheel size and avoid the recalibration issue?

Sorry but I am new to this whole thing and if this sounds stupid please be kind.

I think that ive read somewhere that the stock 17 gt wheels will throw off the speedo something like 3mph at 60mph? its not that bad, but it does need recalibrated to be exact.

Discount tires website has a calculator to determine all of this.

I believe that the 17" wheels with the oem tires will come out to the same size as the 16" with oem, so you should be fine. It's the ouside diameter that ultimately matters for speedo. Hope this helps (and is correct)

I replaced the 16 inch wheels/tires with 17 inch wheels/tires. Discount tire gave me $400 credit toward the purchase of a new set.

Here's the link to the thread where I talk about it!

How do you guys think these would look on the Legend Lime with black stripe?

I think those would look good. The Legend Lime has a lot of black trim on it. I know I have one!

Silver or mchined look good also IMO....

This says that the reccommended tires are:

235/55-17

Plugging these in with the calculator says that it will be 65.43 instead of 65mph
Probably not necessary to adjust the speedometer

Cool!

Dammit, now i am going to spend like 1000 on this stuff!
Oh well I guess learning to drive stick will pay for the new wheels/tires, as it saved me almost that much.

Plus the added benefit of enjoyment of driving stick!

Might have to get the black stripes on the hood and roof and such to go with the wheels now

Geez, this could get costly

Those look nice but you'd better check the backspacing.

Well from Tire Rack they can be mounted and balanced for about 1092 total. Plus 60 shipping and, well i guess i can put them on myself if they are mounted and balanced so no extra charge there.

Hmm thats alot. Amyone want to buy my old ones if i go with these?

You might want to stop by Discount Tire if they have a store in your area and see if you can work a deal with them?

I went for 255/50/R17 on my V6. That's the same overall diameter as the stock tire, but about an inch and a half wider. You can check out some pics of them in my gallery, clink on the link...

No discount tire within 100 miles that i could find.
GOnna check some of the shops around to see if I can swing a deal.
I'm going to move to LAs Vegas so I can get summer performance tires and wouldn't have to keep the old ones for winter. (Thats not why I am moving lol) If i can get a few hundred for them or as a credit I am going to do it. Might consider trying Ebay, but thats kinda a pain in the hiney. However 1100 or so is a big hit right now might wait till after I make the move. (Plus then I could put the cross country miles on the old tires and wheels.)
