Doug my response to your quote in the previous post did not come out the way I meant after i just read it now so I had to re edit it. Sorry if you read it and took it the wrong way,I have since corrected it the way I meant it.

Also just noticed you mentioned in another thread that a custom fabbed intercooler is possible if one wanted so that answers that question.

Hey guy,

No problem. As for the intercooler yes it is possible but as noted it would require a cowl hood of some sort and more money, I don't know really how much? You could use water injection for track use or for every once in a while use.

thanks, Doug.

Quick question Doug,
We have to have emissions done here in Atlanta, will the 49 state one pass that, or will we have to detune/change pulley etc to pass emissions in GA?

Excellent actually I would prefer using a stock hood just cut a hole in the hood and let that baby stick out a little ( maybe fab it even higher) out like the GMC 671’s superchargers ; )

You know the more I think about the X sticking out that would be trick might look really good esp for shows. If when fabbing the intercooler if poss fab so the X sticks up even a little higher. You cut a hole in the hood finish the edge off appearance wise then you could fab (optional) a blower scoop on top of the X or just leave it. Now if you didn’t want to fab higher I think the X if sticking out enough would till possible look great. I know might not be cool for a daily drive but but for me car is not my DD and talk about old school muscle car look!

The link below for those who don’t know what a 671 is. Enjoy

I would like to see an X-Charger on the Dyno with a tank of METH, and a 225cc nozzle... While the person doing the pull is sipping on some Jack Daniels, while Doug is watching the A/F meter.. LOL!!

X-Charger is in the game for sure with these numbers.. Nice job Doug.. Your going to have to show more proof on the forged rods.. You cant just run through here and make such a claim without further proof..

Much like this dyno sheet.. I aint givin up my forged rods without a fight! Prove it Doug904.. Show pictures, part numbers or whatever..

I'd like to see a X-charger with a good shot of methanol as well....

Thanks, Doug.

Hey Doug! I have a great way to improve the Xcharger!!

Turn the blower upside down like the 3.8 S/C.. This way you can run it through a standard intercooler..

Here is a website with a 4.3L Stroker using an M112.. Basically the Eaton M112 is turned upside down and intercooled..

You can create much more power this way, because boost temps can be more easily controlled..

What do you think?

Of course you guys have the option to use the 3.8 intercooler top mount part...

Doug, turn the blower upside down and run it like the Thunderbird S/C!!

Turn the blower upside down?! Wouldn't that just reverse the space-time continuum and cause the sun to rise from the west?

haha!! dig it!

I'm still liking the X-charger.... upside down, right side up or tilted a bit to the left.

I'm dead serious about this Hamidlmt.. The 3.8 Supercoupes took a different approach to the Roots blowers.. Typically the portion of the blower feeding the engine is the bottom.. Where you can actually see the rotors.. The hottest point of the boost...

The 3.8's, turned the blower upside down, so the rotors faced upwards.. They had a small box on top which typically said 3.8 on it.. This routed the created boost into an intercooler then back to the engine.. Where as the Xcharger is feeding the motor directly from the rotors, and is not allowing ambient air to somewhat cool off the boost before it enters the combustion chamber..

The idea is cooler boost, more power, and the ability to run lower octane gasoline.. Remember, the hotter the boost, the higher the octane needs to be...

Look at Dougs pics..

The biggest problem right now which is not Dougs problem, but a design concept intitiated by EE is to feed the Xcharger from the rotors.. This makes heat an issue.. Doug can't squeeze blood from a turnup.. However, making power would be much easier if the design started from a standpoint of the rotors facing upwards, so that the boost could be routed through an intercooler much easier..

So all though you two have chosen to make a joke out of my post, it is a viable option for the Xcharger.. But it would take a redesign of the lower intake manifold..

In this pic, you can see the rotors.. Right now, the Xcharger is creating boost and also feeding the engine from these rotors..

In this next pic you can see how the Xcharger looks as it sits on top of the motor...

http://users.wildblue.net/bamachips/...X-charger1.jpg

http://users.wildblue.net/bamachips/...X-charger8.jpg

By turning the blower upside down like this, you can route the boost to an intercooler..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EATON...ayphotohosting

The real story here though is Doug has not had the opportunity to tune one of the kits with the Aftercooler already built in, or water to air.. Which is placed between the lower intake and the blower.. So we still have not seen the best numbers for the more desired Xcharger.. Noone is considering it because it is much more expensive than the base kit which starts out at $3500 bucks..

The aftercooler will add about 30 more RWHP and 40 more RWTQ.. So it is more than likley the aftercooled xcharger will have results like 308RWHP and 325RWTQ @ 9psi...

So Doug really does not need to redesign the Xcharger, you guys just need to be willing to pay more.. LOL!!

Hi guys
I registered here to set the record straight (and enjoy theses forums).
That is my Stang in the link above. It has the M90 on it in it's intended position as it would be on the Thunderbird SC. The blower is an aftermarket ported model from Magnum Powers and utilizes the stock M90 case.

Flipping a blower upside down can be done. (I know of one) but I believe the supercharger oil becomes an issue because of the way things are lubricated and the fill spout would be upside down too.

We've found a way to lower IAT temps, and by a great number. We even made 288 rwhp and 292 rwtq last saturday with it but we didn't have a large enough size to make what we were after.

300 rwhp is very very close.....

Isn't that the idea behind water/meth injection, to lower intake temps? BTW, I have my old 3.8 eaton in the garage, I was looking to buy a custom manifold and plenum and make my own blown 4.0
Now to figure out how to run the water/meth deal and get a decent tune...
