and to make sure you have some tunes loaded on it.. whether they come loaded from whomever you buy the tuner from or from someone mailing them to you and you loading them off the comp yourself.. yup, its pretty much self-contained other than that

Wait. So you can't just get the tuner from Alternative autos(for example) you have to also buy the actual tuner program too?

What Zodiac is talking about is some FREE software you can download from SCT called "Extreme Tune". It allows you to make minor changes to the tunes on your computer and then load them onto the X-Cal2. However the shops, like Alternative, now have the ability to let you make adjustments to your tune right on the X-Cal2...
But for a simple plug-n-play, with the X-Cal2 your all set... it's all self-contained...

3 tune? Does that mean it is 3 different ones to choose or just one called 3 tune?
Also I noticed that you guys seem to race your cars with this tune, at least you do scrming, so my question is does this really have any bearing in the real world? Is it worth getting for someone who will NOT be racing the car?
Sorry for all the questions.

Yes, you can choose 3 different tunes.. like one for 89 Octane or 91 Octane.. etc... For me I have a tune for daily driving and then i have a tune for my Nitrous setup that I use at the track... So I'm really only using 2 slots... we usually use the 3rd tune (slot) for dyno testing...
An X-Cal2 is worth it even if your car is simply a daily driver... IMHO...

As soon as you get bored driving your pleasure car, Up load a Bamachips tune and you'll be driving a whole other animal. Ford sent the V6 out the door sleeping, a tune will wake it up, once you feel the difference you'll never go back.

I've been playing around with the Bamachips torque tune this past week. Love it for around town! Though, taking it out on a backroad yesterday and going from a dead stop to 80, I could tell the performance tune has more high end hp (Doug suggested it makes a great racing tune). Still, 80 came nice and quick...blows the stock tune away!

This is the bamachips one right?

Is there a difference between this one and the alternative auto one?

Not fair at all! I paid for my own! Only thing I'll let you do is let Doug drive your car since I let Lidio drive mine! LOL!

Actually for this test of who has the better tune, I think NA times/dynos are king. Of course it will be hard to see who is actually better because we all taken different approaches to mods.
But I'm game for this contest. I'm at 190 with my mods/tunes and I havent even put on a pulley yet.
What say you Zodiac/Scrming?

There is one problem... take a look at afixer's dyno sheet he just posted... Notice the big artificial spike? Mine don't have that... so going strictly by peak isn't fair either... That spike is caused when the TC locks up... We force my TC to lock up early when we dyno my car so it's a smooth graph with out the big spike... Maybe next time i'll have Lidio not lock the TC up so I can get the spike too!!! LOL!

I have a dyno sheet that spikes to 193 too, but I don't post it becaue of the spike. My dyno at 190 is smooth, no spike. The pulley is on my list, trust me on that!!!!
And, just so you know, the pro chamber is ordered. I will get it installed and dyno'd shortly, once excessives dyno is functional of course.
