I used to have the GT take off muffler, my bet is 3-5, no more than 5.

I'd have to agree 10 seems a little high. I'd buy 3-5 on the "butt dyno" meter as well. And even if it were zero, it sure sounds a load better that way anyhow

Yep, and they are a great inexpensive mod.

I'm not sure of the HP increase with the GT muffler, but I had my true duels put on over the weekend and the other day I pulled out of a gas station and had to gun it to avoid traffic and for the first time on dry pavement I chirped the tires. Plus the car seems to have a better pickup now then before.

I went to the Meineke in Oakdale. Guy there was really happy to work on the car and was even happier that I had all the parts needed. I might have to swign back there though, since one muffler seems to be back about 1/4" more then the other. Nothing major, but I knotice it. I'm sure its a simple adjustment.

my girlfreinds v6 lagged big time when we first bought it but after awhile it adapted to her driving style now it jets from dead stop..It adjusts to your style of driving, i forget what the dealer called it but it screams now!

I thought the adaptive system in my ride had gotten pretty good, adjusting to my driving with little throttle lag. Then, in went the C&L and Bamachips X-cal II tune... I used to chirp the tires every now when puttin' the pedal to the floor from a dead stop. It was spirited, but not always terribly impressive. Now, the tires (er... make that, the one tire) squeals down the block at only half-throttle. I've had to relearn how pull away from a stop... it can actually be challenging not to spin the tires. It's an entirely different experience.

While it may seem like it's screaming now, there is still an incredible amount of improvement left... you still have the torque management system that prevents the car from really taking off from a dead stop... Only a tuner can take care of that...

In today's car everything is basically controlled by the car's computer. In your V6 the computer controls things like torque management and in the automatics shift schedules. The stock program has it's drawbacks that really hinder the cars performance... What a tuner like the X-Cal2 does is replace the car's stock computer program with a new one that improves the car's performance and allows you to adjust for things like tire size.... The tuners also makes a copy of the stock program so you can put the stock program back if you need to take the car in for service....

That's not a stupid question at all! The computer system in the new Mustangs controls just about everything, including the auto tranny. Therefore, you can change just about anything that affects your performance with the SCT-2. As a matter of fact, to add just about any performance mod, you need the SCT-2 or something similar. A partial list of what you can change:
  • Timing
  • Air/fuel ratio
  • Shift points
  • Rev limiter
  • Torque limiter
Etc, etc. There's a ton more but that's all I can think of right now. I'm sure a few will come behind me and make corrections/additions. That's my non-technical explanation. If you have an auto, you know that lag you get when you nail the gas? Gone with the SCT-2. In short, it's the best thing you can buy for your car. Get the SCT-2+C&L CAI from BamaChips for the win!

Ok. So this program increases acceleration and responsivness in short as well as other things that increase performance. Does it increase hp?
Do you guys have this program on your cars? And all you have to do is uninstall and reinstall the old program when serviced?

And this is the X-cal we're talking about right? What are the other things? C&L and CAI?

The C&L is the brand name of the CAI=Cold Air Induction. Here's some more info:

Yes to all of the above. Although it's said that the dealership can tell if you've reflashed your computer. I seriously doubt they will give you any problems though.

Are you sure? I don't want to buy this thing and then have it void our warrenty. There is no chance it will damage the comp right?

The odds of a tuner trashing the computer are minimal... but there's always a chance. If you want absolutely want zero chance of failure, don't buy a tuner!

Ive never heard of the tuner trashing the car's comp.. maybe Doug can comment on it, but on these forums for as long as Ive been here I havent seen any mention of it. I have the tuner, it takes mere minutes (literally) to use, and flashing back to stock to take it to the dealer takes less time than finding the tootsie-roll center of a tootsie-pop.

Nice on Zodiac. I often wondered that. I'm sure it is safe I just don't want to have a warranty issue. So all you need is the tuner and nothing else to get it working right?
