A friend of mine just bought the Xcalibrator for his 99 GT, can it be used for other vehicles? I have an 05 V6 and would like to go in on the cost so I can use some of my money for the mortgage too.
Also, if I did try to use his on my car would it damage my cars computer or just give an error code? Has anyone tried this?

A tuner can only be used for one vehicle at a time. It stores your stock calibration in memory and is 'locked' to your vin number.

Is this true? I thought if you returned the car to stock the tuner can be used on another car. In other words, you flash the original car back to stock and the xcal could program another car?

Both statements are true, by tuning it back to stock you basically release that key to that car.

Yeah I thought everyone I've met was just too rude not to let me borrow their Xcal until I got mine in the mail and read the instructions. Plus they are CPU specific I think so a V6 owner couldn't use a GT one I think. Could be wrong though.
