MPG performance for V6 -2009?

MPG performance for V6 -2009?
Are there any mods that can help my 2009 V6 with mpg performance? My generation of Mustangs get's really terrible MPG, and as much as I am forced to travel each day between work and school... It would really help me.
I was thinking a chip perhaps that adds a bit more HP, and in about a year or so it would pay for itself... but a chip would void my warranty, and I dont really know if its worth the risk. Are there any less risque options?

My 4.0 gets about the same as my 4.6 GT.
Sometimes less, I think because it is an auto.
When I bought it the computer had never been reset since new(10K mi.).
It read 19MPG.
It was grandma owned.
I usually get about 16 in mostly city driving.
My GT usually gets 18-20 overall, but with less city driving.(Going easy I've hit 27 on a 100mi. cruise)

You can contact Justin at VMPtuning.com. He will write you a tune for MPG plus give you a little more power. You can call him or order a tune for your car online. You will have to buy a tuner and the tunes, so you are looking at $500. if you want an intake also he has package deals. I got 22mpg with his tune on my car when I was N/A with 3:73 gears. It would pay for itself in a year. Doing this is about the only way you will see a good jump in MPG, besides good driving. I currently get 19 mpg from my supercharged 4:10 geared v6. (VMP TUNE)
The tuner will not void the factory warranty, you could have a hassle, depending on where you bought the car. A good dealer will not give you a hassle unless you are hammering the car, and that would show.

Some forum members claim gains in MPG from switching the Granatelli or Screamin' Demon coils and zero ohm spark plug wires.

With any modifications like this, you'll have to weigh the cost of the mods vs the money saved in gas. Unless you were replacing some parts anyways (like going with low rolling resistance tires) spending hundreds or thousands of dollars in mods will take years to recoup the savings in better mpg, if ever. In other words, if you spend $300-400 for a tuner and custom tunes, to get 2 mpg better gas mileage, how long will it take you to recover that $300-400 you spent with better mpg given the amount of miles you put on the car.

Easiest mod you can do to your V6 Stang to get better gas mileage only cost a dollar at most gas stations.
Inflate your tires to 34psi. You will see a noticeable yet slight increase in fuel economy. the higher tire pressure means less rolling resistance and tire deformation (IE less friction) so your car rolls easier.

I just checked my fuel mileage over the last two weeks, I have a 48 mile one way trip to work, alot of 55mph driving on 2 lane roads, been getting 22.3 mpg with the exact same setup I run 12.31, 12.38's with. DR's n all.

Your driving habits really make the most difference. I've had my 2010 V6 for about 6 months now and my worst tank of gas was 21.1 MPG, and my best (all highway) has been 28.5 MPG. On average, I typically get 23-24... My car is completely stock except a muffler from a 2006 GT.

so many people stay on the gas all the way up to the point they want to slow down, then go directly to the brake pedal... by coasting more you'll save on gas and your brakes. I routinely get 4 mpg more than my wife IN THE SAME CAR just because of our different driving styles.

(Actually I am pretty good at coasting too, but the rest of my driving style negates the savings.)

Swap out the v-6 muffler for a gt take off. takes about 20 min tops Back when gas was close to 4 bucks a gal this mod paid for itself in a few weeks. That and swapping the stock air filter for an air grabber filter, were the best mpg mods i put on my 08
