Id be interested to see a dyno chart compared to the 4.0. Its not always about peak, its about the curve. Also wonder how much more/less it weighs than the 4.0, since the 4.0 was originally a 2.6 or somin.

I don't think we will see this engine in the Mustang anytime in the near future. Unless, Ford is thinking of taking the Mustang down the front wheel drive road :notnice: which would be a major blunder. Ford engineers state the following "By analyzing the transaxle and engine together, noise, vibration and harshness characteristics of the powertrain were optimized to ensure a quiet, trouble-free driving experience." Last I knew, transaxle = FWD, I could be wrong...I was once... This entire engine looks to be developed specifically for FWD applications, just my opinion........

It was a good article good read thanks for posting.

Someone here or at ModularFord really did an in-depth post on this engine detailing the pro & con awhile ago it was really good from what I can remember.

That’s what we should have had base at least 240hp every time I look at other V6 just seems every one has more horse than us I know I know we have decent TQ, Hey if these S/C's work out meaning engines hold up 300-350HP I will be happy that’s decent. We are right there/faster S/C with the old Mustang's 302,351's 428's and stock 05 GT's. I think if I remember correctly our stock V6 would give the old 68 Mustang 390 V8 a run for its money can you believe that .

If anyone wanted to go faster than 350 -400 HP S/C on these V6's you should have bought a GT or trade yours in. But you know those 4.6 from what I have read seems like GT's have a hard time taking over 450+ HP that’s not allot of cushion if you want to build one up s/c etc without bottom end work. I think they really need to drop in a 5.4 and when they do we will step in

what if they put the engine in the trunk? like the old VW bugs... think of all the storage space that would free up

The 3.0L Duratec was originally designed for FWD applications but found it's way into RWD vehicles as well (Lincoln LS & Jag S-type).

FWD won't happen in the Mustang. Ford already learned their lesson with the Probe in the 90s. Also, the Mustang is a brand new design. They wouldn't make a drastic change like that for a long time. The engine will make it into the Mustang but not the transaxle.

We'll just have to wait and see, I don't believe Ford has gone on record saying this engine "will" be in the Mustang in the future....or have they?
