Now there are some nice sound clips there It reminds me when we used to by Hush Thrush Mufflers and put a little gas in set fire then put out fast and when on our little 289's man you got a mean sounding rapp. I think I'll try it some day but not on the 05 GT.

:notnice: My thoughts exactly , RICE all the way. Ford must have put a lot of time into the sound of the V6 exhaust also. Factory stock sounds real good, I doubt anybody else will do better on the sound. I'm sure the companies that are working an exhaust for the V6 will get more Hp out of it than stock, but better sound;I doubt it. More than likely someone in a hay barn somewhere will hit on a good hot rod sound and free flowing to boot, just by playing around with their exhaust system.

 

I like how my 2000 V6 with flowmaster 40's sounds at low RPM's better, nice deep/loud rumble, but I like how that magnaflow system sounds better at higher rpm's, it's not "american" in the sense of a V8, you're never going to get that tone out of a V6, but it does have a nice throaty sound and it sounds more like a performance engine found in something like a BMW etc, rather than a honda....

 

B) The more I listen to it, I have to agree with you , it does sound more European, than rice. I guess it's a little too tinney sounding for my taste. So are you happy with your flowmasters?

 

I think it sounds okay for a magnaflow, just has a little too much raspy burble for my taste though. Overall I think It gives the V6 a race-car type of sound which is fine. I guess that is why I prefer the sound of the flowmaster muffler over the magnaflows, since the 4.6 also has the same raspy burble to it.

I like the Flowmaster's on my V6, it has a nice deep rumble when you start it up, especially on cold starts, most people have a hard time discerning whether it's a 6 or 8 under 1200 rpm or so, but above that it gets a higher pitch and monotone, 2000 rpm has a horrible drone. They've gotten better over time after they got a little burnt out. Flowmasters aren't known for longevity.

 

I think the car sounds great both inside and out. Remember this car is a V6 not a V8. If you want the sound of a V8 engine you should have bought a GT. This exhaust gives the V6 a character all its own and does not sound ricey at all. It might sound a little euro but it adds some class to the car. The single muffler is much better then a fake dual setup. Duals looked bad on the previous gen V6 and they would look bad on this one as well. I like to call that the "hillbilly" look.

 

Since when does a Flowmaster get "burnt out" there is no elements inside the muffler to get burnt out. Its all stamped and formed metal the plates inside simply deflect the sound waves but there is not material inside a flowmaster to get burnt out. However you might be considering the carbon deposits from a rich running exhaust as laying a layer of "crude" inside the muffler which over time does help to cancel and absorb some additional high Freq tones from the exhaust.

Flowmasters are constructed with chambers (different series being different numbers of chambers). Over time the metal dividing these chambers, break down, rust, corrode, what have you, and deteriorate. After pulling a flowmaster muffler off a car that's been on their for a couple years you will 9 times out of 10 have essentially an open chamber.

 

thats interesting I have yet to see that happen, but then again the longest I have run a flowmaster for is 7 years on the same car, granted it was a 4 cylinder race tuned civic but I guess with higher exhaust temps and pressures from a V8 and running heavier leaded gas I guess it would be possible for the internal baffles on a flowmaster to give way.... but like I said I personally have not seen it, but that is just based on my own experience plus I am sure living on the west coast probably helps.

Like everything else in the snow belts if its metal and its on the road its going to rust. So I am sure this phenomena probably happens a lot in these areas.

 

i think magnaflows should just come out with both duals and single exhast kits...everyone has their own ways/style...

since i can't wait for the exhaust to come out...im going with some flowmasters...i had a 96 camaro 3.8 with 40 series exhaust and it had a rumble to it at low rpm..i guess im gunna test how a 40 series will sound on a my 05 v6...one bad thing was the higher the rpm, the crappier the sound of my car got...but im getting duals...
