Thumbs up

I have noticed something evertime I open the hood of my new Mustang. The break reservoir always has fluid leaked all over the top of it and around the cap. I have a buddy who has a 05 V6 also and has the same issue. Did they over fill it at the factory or do we have a defective cap?

Anyone have this same issue?

I spoke with quite a few other 05 owners Saturday at FFW. This topic of conversation came up and all of us had the same problem. One of the guys said his dealership told him until quite a few more people complained Ford would not do anything about it. Mine leaks also. A few of them seemed to think it was a faulty cap. It will be interesting to see if everyone has this problem. Thanks for posting the topic.

I got my car back from the dealer and they said it was over filled at the factory. They drew some fluid out and cleaned the area. Doesn't seem to be leaking now.

Mine's doing the same thing. Doesn't seem to be overfilled (fluid level lines up to fill mark)

I have had my car almost a year (Oct 04) and its still doing it. If it were overfilled from the factory, I would not think it would still be doing it.

Mine was leaking also. They replaced the cap and that seemed to take care of it
for about a month. Then is started leaking worse. They really couldn't figure out where it was coming from. The replace the master cylinder and fluid tank. It's been on for about 2 weeks and seems to be ok.

This isnt just an 05 mustang thing, or a mustang thing, or a ford thing. Its an every car thing if you drive it hard. When you are pullin tight corners and accelerating/braking hard, fluid will seep slowly out, its not an air tight seal, but its close.

There will be no TSB i can promise you that, its a normal thing if you drive the car hard (even 1 hard acceleration can get fluid to swish out).

This isnt my first car. Ive never had one leak fluid out like this. I worked as a ford, lincoln, mercury mechanic for 3 years before joining the service and havent seen one leak except if someone overfilled it. Even my beater 89 toyota camry doesnt leak and I beat the **** out of that car.

Exactly what he said, just take it below the full line, and you will be fine, i did the same thing with mine. Same thing with my trans am, and same thing with my cobra.

so unless your guys' are leaking SUPER bad, then maybe there is a tsb coming that my car isnt doing, but its just seeping on my car, and i own an auto mechanic shop, and i see it on at least 85% of the cars that come in.

So anyone else had this problem yet or did I get an oddball? I popped the hood to check the oil and brake fluid had run down the sides of the master cylinder and had eaten the some paint off the frame below. It was just a bad cap and they repainted the frame, but how annoying.

Also, only 4400 miles on it and the clutch feels like it's out of adjustment already. But when they took it for a test drive they said it was normal. I guess we'll see if they're buying me a new clutch at 10k miles. Still love the car, but just little annoyances. My Shaker 500 slow response problem went away though, I guess hitting things does work sometimes.

There is a TSB for the Leaking Master Cylinder Caps.
