JBA V6 True Dual Exhaust
#21
I installed my JBA duals with h-pipe two weeks ago. If I had it to do over again, I would have gone with someone elses system. The hangers that they supply for the drivers muffler are horrible. The muffler on that side hung too low and too far inboard. I had to pay another $105 for two factory type hangers at the Ford dealer. Even then, i had to put the wire hangers from the mufflers thru the wrong openings in the OEM hangers on both sides to get the mufflers to line up where they should be. The band type clamp supplied in the kit for the crossover pipe was 2-1/2" - too bad the diameter of the crossover pipe is 2-1/4". There went another $15 to get the proper clamp at the parts store.
The system sounds good. Everyone thinks its a V8. It does drone at 75 MPH on the highway but I think a thick layer of jute padding on the trunk floor will take care of that.
As for the question about pipe diameters. The Y-pipe tubing is 2-1/4" and the JBA tubing is 2-1/2". To join them together, the JBA pipes neck down to 2-1/4" at the front to mate with the cut Y-pipe.

When the JBA true duals came out, my y-pipe version was being shipped. Oh well... I dig how they sound, especially with headers! Still, I wonder how much of a problem it would be to add an X or H pipe and if it would even be worth the modification.

As you can see, it wont be a problem at all.. A price of $100 bucks or less should have either of these 2 pieces installed..
