JBA Headers

Headers for the v6 that are under $450.

THey claim 15-20hp and 26 ft lbs Torque.

Yes i know these have been talked about before, but this is the first time i have seen prices and hp/tq gain #'s.

I'm sure we'll see some by summers end, chances are they will be close to a grand though. Im just curious if i get these headers if i will need a tune. because 20hp and 25tq sound pretty good to me

Those gains look good.... But is that with or without the JBA Exhaust and a tune? The factory manifold is supposed to be really nice for factory. Or are they going off the GT gains?? Just want to be sure, it is a lot of money to spend if only going to get 1 or 2 horses when it is all said and done.

I talked with JBA yesterday after I cancelled my order for MAC headers. I've been reading about MAC's quality issues (supposed to be much better these days) and they're back-ordered until May. JBA has a great reputation and I'm thinking of ordering.

Well, the lad I talked to at JBA said they've prototyped the headers and their evolve exhaust on both manual and auto V6's. But, the guys with the cars haven't come back to get their free parts, allowing JBA to do dyno runs. He said he's called them several times and they don't respond! He also said a similar setup on a 4.0L Ranger produced 17 hp.

I told 'im if I was down in San Diego, he could slap those headers on my car! hmm... Portland isn't so far afterall... if only I had the time...

btw... I don't think you require a tune for an exhaust change like this... could be wrong. I'm sure a tune would be of benefit though.

I dont think a tune would be necessary, i was just curious (like above) if the gain was with a tune, because if so, then the headers are maybe giving you 5-10hp (15-20 from tune)

If these numbers are true, then I am very psyched! As soon as I get an influx of cash, I've got some big plans for my car. Tint, black shelby stripes, wider, stickier tires, headers, single exhaust catback, cai, tuner...I'm salivating just thinking about all the kick hiney stuff I want to do to my car. I wonder how easy it would be to get up to 210-220 rwhp?

with the automatic i would say the mods you want would put you in that range. lets say 26 for the headers, 10 for the exhaust, 20-25 for the CAI and tune. Baseline of i believe around 175 for the v6 auto. thats upwards of 230+rwhp, thats only 40 away from the heavier stock auto gt.

manual would be around 240-250. That should equate to a low 14 car i would hope. (since i can do 15.1 with my stock v6, and im by no means a pro).

That would truely be awesome. I hope the headers give a louder, throatier sound. I hope JBA gets some actual dyno sheets up soon so we can see exactly what these things can do.

The sound clip on their website (for the muffler) i think is the muffler and the headers, not sure though.

I just ordered the titanium ceramic coated JBA shorties from http://www.v6mustangstuff.com/

They'll be shipped directly from JBA and take up to a week and a half to arrive. I was told JBA is shipping them out just as soon as they make them.

Do you know what gains they are claiming to get with just the headers?

By the way, im more than happy to make a road trip to san diego for some free headers Only 13 hours round trip.
