Yeah, it's the fact that he was revving the car without a load on the engine that causes the exhaust to pop like that. Under normal driving conditions, that pop won't be present.

I must be getting old...thats sounds well, not good. Am I the only one that thinks an exhaust shouldn't pop and ALMOST backfire, on decel? I mean the stock Ford exhaust doesn't pop and crack on decel. I think these after market exhaust system designers have been around to many rice burners. They need to listen to some vintage Detriot Iron to fiqure out how an american muscle car should sound on accel and decel. Just my opinion......
That's just revving in the driveway... there's no popping at all during actual driving.

Your car sounds great Its the same setup (jba header/exhaust) I was going for at first but then i opted for the dual magnaflows (which go on tomorrow) that jjpony has on his car. Hopefully they sound that good

What did you use to capture such a good clip?

I captured the clip with my Apple Powerbook G4 , about 4 feet directly behind the rear bumper, sitting on a little box about a foot or so high. I just used the built-in internal mic. I've only heard it on the laptop's speakers... guess I'll have to hook it up the stereo some time.

This is a tad farfetched, but has anyone run those headers through the stock V6 or GT mufflers? I think the sound is pretty nice on your setup Hamid, and that's saying something because I'm not crazy about many of them.

I'd like something a litte more tame though, and I'm curious what it would sound like if run through the stock stuff. I'm leaning towards perhaps using either a take off GT muffler or running just the headers through the stock V6 muffler.

Before I installed the duals, I had the headers going through a single GT muffler. It sounded great! Here's a clip...

now THAT sounds pretty tough to me! How much of an audible difference was there between that and the stock? It sounds like a pitched up stock setup. I don't often trounce on the pedal, so I don't anticipate hearing that top end very often. Still, it sounded pretty nice. I may have found a setup (should I ever decide to change away from my stock). Thanks Hamid! Glad you had the forethought to take that clip!

Once the headers were on with the GT muffler, the first thing I noticed was the sound... just blew me away. Louder, quicker, harder revs. It really is a great sounding setup, plus a nice performance boost (according to the **** dyno). I changed my mind later and wanted duals, but was tremendously happy with the headers and GT muffler combo. So far, JBA headers have been my favorite mod... I think they'll vastly improve any exhaust setup you decide to go with, single or dual (true or otherwise)

Just got my JBA Headers installed, they sound great with my magnaflow Axleback.... I can feel some extra power as well...plus the install was only $180.00, which is a steal in the DC Area. I think this about does it for the performance mods, I have 4.10's/T-loc, MMR CAI and Inlet/ Headers and Axleback. I have decided against duels, it is just to much money and not enough gain in the HP department. Only thing I could possibly do is Underdrive pullies when they come out someday.
