The rubber ones don't clang like the metal ended ones do. But they do make bumps louder and they do transfer a lot more road noise. If you ring and pinion whines, it will also make it louder.
I took my BMRs off yesterday and put my stock ones back in and I noticed a big decrease in noise.

As one who was seriously considering this mod, I appreciate your info. I don't want my daily driver making extra road noise.
