HELP please?

Got a C&L intake and SCT tuner from someone off of the forum. Said the tuner was unlocked, but i can't figure out how to apply the tune to my vehicle. When I try to program it, it says wrong vehicle.

It's my tuner that he bought. It's an SCT XCal 2. I purchased the tuner and CAI from Tillman Speed. My car is bone stock and was bone stock when I purchased it. I remember the person who I spoke to over the phone asking what year and I replied 05-07 (at the time) V6 Mustang and if I had any Mods done to the car which I did not. Then he asked what octane gas I use which was 87. He replied that he would write the tune for 87, and 89 street tune and a 92 octane race tune if I remember correctly (been awhile since I looked at the tunes that were loaded onto it). He never asked for any other info besides that, so I'm not sure how they would be custom to my car.

Before I took the car into the dealership to have some warranty work done I removed the CAI and plugged the tuner back in, selected Return to Stock on the Program Menu and set the car back to stock. Now according to the instructions it states that the Tuner should be unlocked now.
ONCE THE XCALIBRATOR 2 HAS BEEN USED TO PROGRAM A VEHICLE, THE FLASHING CAPABILITY WILL BE LOCKED TO THAT VEHICLE UNTILL THAT VEHICLE HAS BEEN PUT BACK TO STOCK. ONCE THE FIRST VEHICLE WAS PUT TO STOCK, THE XCALIBRATOR 2 CAN BE REPROGRAMMED FOR ANOTHER COMPATIBLE FORD VEHICLE BY ANY SCT DEALER.

Wouldn't that mean that the tuner is unlocked now and he should be able to just plug it in and use the tunes that came with it?

I called SCT and didnt get ANY help from one of the agents, but called again and got some great help from a different agent. They walked me through the software updates and everything, They actually said that your '07 87/89 tunes wouldnt work for my 06. So I went and bought an 87/89, 91, and 93 octane tune from an SCT dealer in South Carolina, but to get the tune right. the tune programs wouldnt actually load onto the SCT XCal2. It's weird. I actually got the 87 octane tune working but the other 2 two wont go on it.

I was wondering if it could have been that I never did any updates. I read that on another forum right now. Those guys at SCT are hit and miss. I'm sure if you hit them up tomorrow you should be able to get the other tunes you purchased up and running. The 87 was all I used out here in cali since gas is $3 a gallon and up, we don't even have 93 octane out here as far as I know. Sorry for any trouble.

It's no problem at all! Just happy to have it working now. See, you flashed yours back to stock, but you didn't unlock. All i had to do was download the software from SCT to unlock it.
