I need some help everyone. I have a few questions I've been unable to get answers for by searching. I'll call around tomorrow and double-check... but I wanted to run these questions by you all first.

1) When I placed the order, they recommended I upgrade the ignition system when running boost. They mentioned some brand, but I don't really remember. It was something along these lines: http://www.ignitionsolutions.com/productsBooster.asp From what I can glean from other non-Mustang forums, the difference was negligible. But this was with N/A engines. Is it a more appropriate upgrade with forced induction?

2) Thermostat: Heat is the ultimate cause of pre-detonation. Many factors contribute to that heat (too much boost, low octane gas, etc...) Would running a t-stat with a lower opening threshold help keep engine temps in a safe range? Normally, I don't believe in messing with t-stats, since they're designed to keep an engine at its optimal temperature... but when running boost, the engine will be dealing with extra heat.

3a) Fuel pump: I've heard a few stories about the stock fuel pump not being able to supply enough pressure for the larger injectors included with the kit. IIRC, it was a GT that had the problem, and they had to remove the rear seat to change out the fuel pump. Has anyone heard of this? ...will the stock pump be strong enough to supply 42lb injectors?

3b) Boost-a-Pump: This is a Kenne Bell thing, right? It makes sense, though. I guess it adds extra voltage to the fuel pump to increase output. Could this help in a S/C application? I know Mike @ PowerHouse uses one...

I am still trying to decide between a T-Lok or a TrueTrac..... I know the TrueTrac is better, I just don't know if it's worth the cash at this point.

I can't provide you with any insight on questions 1-3, sorry, but I have no experience with SC's. However I do have an opinion on TrueTrac vs. TLOK. Since you are spending all this money on an SC and putting a lot of power to the wheels, I would go with the TT. We know the TLOK can hold up, don't get me wrong, I have one. But if you want the strongest unit, and considering it costs $300 in labor everytime you have it taken apart, I would just do it right the first time.

Hopefully MSP and Belial will chime in on your questions, they are the ones here with SC's on thier 4.0's. Also, you might want to pm Puerto Rico 4.6 and/or max2000jp, they were quite imformative on MSP's install.

Keep us posted.

Hey man,

From what I've heard on people tuning the stage II, a fuel pump upgrade of some sort is needed. Don down at Modular Madness in Sarasota tuned a stage II kit, and said that he was running out of fuel pump before he was running out of injector, and had troubles keeping the mix rich enough. As for the thermostat and ignition, I don't believe they're needed for the power levels you'll be producing, but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks for the replies....

TJ made a good point in my thread on another forum. The "tuner" kit says it omits the injectors and the fuel pump, so that's a pretty good indicator it ships with something to increase fuel pressure.

You just have to read between the lines because it's not broken down in the parts list of the full Stage II kit.

Good points about the TT. Where is the cheapest place to get it? I've heard several people say they got it for $350, but the cheapest I can find it is for $382 with $5 "handling" and no good estimate for shipping. This is at Drive Train Specialists.

Since I'll be calling tomorrow for tracking numbers, I'm going to make sure the kit I ordered comes with a pump.

My invoice had the injectors and plugs listed, but no mention of pump. This is getting me worried.....

I beleive you have the same pump as the GT and it's good for upto around 385-400rwhp and if you upgrade the wire size feeding it you can make upto 425-440 with it. You can also get a kenne bell boost a pump and that will hold anything the stock 4.0 can put out.

THanks, Doug.

Thanks for the info. I did talk to them today and they definitely confirmed it comes with a new fuel pump to go with the 42lb injectors.
