Front Brake Upgrade

Hi all,

Thinking about using my tax refund for a bit of fun -- eyeballing upgrading my front brakes (2007 V6) before I do any open track days.

American Muscle offers the "Ford Racing Brake Upgrade" package, BUT:

I already have really nice HAWX pads (can I even reuse those, if I think my rotors are starting to warp anyway? Or are they basically just going to toast my next set?).

I also am not a big fan of OEM rotors. I have Brembo blanks on the rear (Brembo part #09.B585.10, for anyone curious).

Does anyone know if there's an equivalent Brembo front blank? If not, I'm eyeballing these Raybestos rotors instead. Any other suggestions?

Finally, yes, I'm aware that the above link is for GT spec/sized rotors -- I believe these caliper brackets are the same ones that are offered in the aforementioned Ford Racing kit. Can anyone confirm/deny?

Thanks, all!

Have you upgraded your Brake hoses as well to stainless steel? Also what kind of Hawk pads did you get?

Pretty sure I got HPS's

I have *not* upgraded my brake lines yet. I do plan on bleeding my brakes dry and putting in DOT4, so I guess that would be the time to do it...

Don't forget that you need the front GT caliper mounting brackets. The calipers are the same, but the brackets are taller. Using the GT rotors with these brackets, using the original calipers, give you a night and day difference. Without spending a ton of money, this was the simplist and easiet way of getting better braking. I put on FordRacing brake line kit, (Christmas gift) and that was it. The rears are all the same, base or GT.
Works great.

I didn't realize that the listing shown was for basically just rotors and brackets. That's all there is. I guess I never looked at catalog lately. I was checking Rockauto and they have a pair of brackets for $26.00 (A-1 CARDONE 141091). The rotors can be had (Mtrcraft) for $40. each (same as the M2300 has). To me, that is just over 107. total for everything. Sometimes it just pays to shop single pieces over kits. You could also switch around the rotors and get your choice of better ones, and still pay less than the FR kit. Just a thought for you.

You showed the Raybestos rotors for 71.99 each. Why? R/A has the same number Raybestos rotors for just under $30.00 each. Same part number, same rotor, much lower price. This happens a lot. I saved over 200 when I did my exhaust by single parts, rather than kits. It must come from my parts selling days. lol
