Difference in sound?
Difference in sound?
I plan on getting a GT Dual takeoff muffler, just wondered if the sound will change a little bit or will I have to go with a CAI as well? (Sorry, NOOB-question)
I definitely think you'll hear a change. The GT mufflers provide a deeper tone than the stock muffler. I can't say from experience or anything because I have a Magnaflow, but I'm pretty certain you will get a noticeable difference.
However, gettinga CAI will certainly help. Of course, getting a CAI with the S197 usually means getting a tuner with it. So if you want to go that route, plan on spending at least $600 for a CAI and tuner. From everything I've read, it is certainly worth the money and more power is always welcome!

I have the same setup as Willie. I'm very pleased with the sound. It's deep and mellow - night and day versus the stock muffler. In my opinion, the GT mufflers sound as good or better than any of the aftermarket mufflers.
Looks great! I bought a set of GT-Take offs mufflers and plan to convert my stang to true duals once my pipes come in.
When I bought the mufflers I covered the tips and painted them silver with engine paint. Some say why bother, me, I just wanted it to look good all around.
Here's a picture of my mufflers after I painted them....the tips are still covered;
