CAI+tune: really worth the $$ ?
Hi guys,
a CAI+tune combo is around $600.
I read a lot of great things about it as far as GT's are concerned, but how about V6?
Please share your experience if you think this really is worth the money.
I was thinking of a C&L + 89 tune for my little V6...
Thx!

I have a c&l 93 hard shift tune on my wifes car. Yes its worth the price. look around for a used unit and save the money.
C&L and Diablo Preditor= HP and seat of the pants feel.
We dynoed at over 224 lb torque and 204 HP at the rear wheels before twisting the driveshaft in half last weekend. V6 4.0

Enzo it the second best money you've ever spent. The best of course is the Mustang but this will really liven the car up and do what the factory should have done. Congrats on the the car and joining the board
Here is a place you can get a combo for around $550 and excellent customer service too.

For your 4.0, a tune is worth every dime and then some. The SCT should be your first mod, then everything else will fall into place. On the other hand, you're wasting your money if you add performance mods without a tune.

Enzo go for the tune and cai. I recommend Doug from Bamachips. He has tune and cai packages. I run 93 torque tune, MMR cai, and Magnaflow axle-back muffler and all I can say is wow, what a difference over stock. If you have an auto trans, you will really notice a difference in shift quickness and firmness.

Thanx for sharing your experience!
I have a couple more questions:
- is it really louder once you have the CAI installed?
- how is your fuel economy with the tune, considering the driving style would remains the same?
Thx,

It definatly gets louder, however I can't tell much over my exhaust.
To be honest I haven't had the cai on long enough to tell you about gas milage (took it ouch so far this year).

Enzo, you will probably only will hear the sucking sound of the cai at wot. As for mileage, rolling down the interstate at 75, I still get 26 mpg which is what I was getting before a tune and a cia. Hope this helps.

Getting a tune without a CAI is not a mistake, in fact if you have to choose between the two, the CAI is an easy choice. It will increase HP, and throttle response. The only thing you will be missing is a few extra HP. And when you are ready, you can throw on a CAI and the dealer you bought the tune from usually provides an updated tune for free.

I have dyno sheets to show that the numbers we see on our custom tune and intake packages actually work! If you want feel free to give us a shout and we'd be more than happy to fax them to you!
