I have been thinking about the one from MMR because it looks awesome, but I haven't heard many people say much about it. If I don't go w/ that I will probably go w/ the one from K&N.

"Dyno results on 4 different GT's showed gains of 28-35 RWHP and 25-35 RWTQ with a nice safe tune."
Jay also paints mirrors for only $50. i think that's a deal. painting my mirrors was one of my most rewarding mods. everytime i look at my '05, i look at the mirrors and feel pleased. sorry for the off topic insert.

I bet the FRPP CAI is a steeda or K & N rebadge.

even stock, the '05s can stand a tune. i think MM&FF took nearly half a second off their 1/4mi time w/ just a tune on a stocker. they ran 13.0 something.
a tune on the stock motor is supposed to really liven things up from all reports of ppl doing it. the throttle response is supposed to be improved by leaps and bounds.
my throttle take up from "off throttle" to on the gas is very sluggish. and when i let off abruptly, the rpms linger above idle for a few seconds before settling down.
a tune is supposed to waken up the motor. i'd say ~ a 30HP increase would be waking up my dormant motor. i can't wait to get a 93 octane tune in my baby w/ the JLT CAI.

When you say 30 HP are you talking V6 or V8? The V8 has a lot more room for improvement, especially timing and A/F ratio at upper rpm. JDM got 20 HP with just a tune in MM & FF. Throw in a CAI and 30+ HP should be easy. I don't think you'll get that much on the V6. Checkout the superchips website or the superchip thread here. It looks like 10 or so HP is all you get. 20 or so HP with a CAI and tune is probably a reasonable goal.

Whether or not the CAI causes the V-6 motor to run leans still poses the same question in my mind. If Ford Racing is planning to re-badge the Steeda and sell it, AND Steeda's public position is that their CAI REQUIRES a re-tune, doesn't this place Ford is a somewhat difficult position? After all they're re-marketing and selling a part that requires a re-tune of the engine... and telling the V-6 Mustang buyers that we cannot re-tune our engines without risking the loss of elements of our warranty.
In this scenario it seems like they're either going to sell ZERO CAI's when the CAI's cause the CEL to activate... or they're going to have to provide a re-tune to make them work. Or?????????
