8.8 swap

does anyone here have experience on doing a GT axle swap with t-lock?

I am just looking for some basic info on the costs I should be expecting, the best place to buy one, and how involved the install is for me to do myself.

thanks!

Checkout www.newtakeoff.com. They have a video of a changeover from a 7.5 to a 8.8. Not as easy as it looks in the video mostly due to the weight of the rear. You will need an extra set of hands if you don't have a lift and transmission jack. Getting the bolt in and torquing the UCA is also a PITA.

I bought a 4.10 rear from them for a GT and was happy with what I got. The rear is quieter than any local gear install I have had. Factor at least 120 for shipping.

also, my car does not have ABS and all the axles on newtakeoff.com have abs, will that cause a problem for me?

The rear end has the reluctor wheels for the ABS sensor. But it's no problem if you don't have ABS.

Paulboy at mustang collective has the 8.8's on sale right now. $700 plus shipping for 8.8 with t-lock and 3.73.

I swapped mine in by myself in my garage. Had the car up on jack stands. I changed out a bunch of suspension stuff at the same time. Would have been easier on a lift, but it was still do-able.
