I got the V6 (1) to get into a Stang and out of my beat-up truck before the beat-up truck in question died on me and (2) with the understanding that there's a big difference between a $550 a month GT payment and a $380 monthly V6 payment. Yes in the end I will have eventually dropped enough money under the hood of this V6 in bolt-ons to have bought a GT, but at least I can save and spend that extra money at my own pace, without the danger of getting my car repo'd because I didn't have an extra $120 this month.

Not true, I got pretty much everything but an automatic and a Shaker 1000 and got mine for just over $25k.

Yeah, I'm compared the payments of a V6 to a GT and was surprized to find that the GT would cost about $150/month more. Quite a bit of bucks to spend every day! :angry:
I actually like the cleaner IMO look of the V6 to the GT also. And after three test drives deceided that the V6 would work for me!
Yeah here the average price for a GT is 29k also. The only way to get a GT at the advertised price of 25k is to have it costom ordered with no options. And here in Central Florida I was told that Ford isn't even taking orders for GTs anymore this year (they have, according to two dealers I checked with, stopped making GTs until 06).

Come on guys, you've forgot the most important reason to mod your V6?? The look on the GT owner's face when you blow by him!!
I'm not a Mustang owner YET but I am a Ranger owner and 4.0 at that. For those of you who don't know me I've personally owned 3 custom Supercharged 4.0 SOHC's. From Paxton SN-93 kits to Eaton M112 kits on 4.0 SOHC's.
My best to date with my SCT tuning is 293rwhp in a 04' Ranger with a completely stock 4.0 SOHC and running 33x10.5's. This is one of my customers and good friends Brian Mckelvey's Ranger. I'm working on 4.0 at the moment with a M112, built 4.0 SOHC, and a good T5 transmission to back it up in a Ranger. I'm looking to push 350rwhp.
Don't start badmouthing the 4.0 out of the gate and saying it's more expensive and engine swaps are cheaper, heck do you know what wiring it takes to do the engine swap? The new Transmission, exhaust, and such?? Might as well add another $2,000-$3,000 in parts on top of that $2,000 V8 and if you have to pay someone to do it then just trade it in.
I've seen 200rwhp plenty of times from these 4.0's with CAI's and exhaust, I've dyno tuned plenty. I'm also working with SuperSixMotorsports.com to help develope new hardcore performance parts for the 4.0 as in cylinder heads and camshafts.
Stick with it!

Do you have some prove on that? I talked with a local dyno tune up shop here and they tested already two dual magnaflows on a v6 and they saw a HP increase in both of them. Maybe it depends on the exaust you are using......

He said bottom end. With opening up the exhaust like that you lose backpressure. You may see a gain of 10hp peak, but at some points in the power band you can drop about 5hp if not more.

From what I understand the low end torque may decrease some but in the mid to upper rpm range there will be a torque increase with dual exhaust. The fact that back pressure changes can affect torque at any given rpm range has more to do with the cam and timing of the car than anything else. Horsepower and torque are directly related. If you were hauling heavy stuff or doing all of your accelerating at low rpm's then duals may not be a good thing but in any other circumstance having duals will be a definite benefit. Since a supercharger rams air into the intake a high pressure that increases to some extent has the equivalent effect of increasing back pressure. A supercharger will have the same effect as putting on a more restrictive exhaust as there would be more air in the cylinder for the engine to expel, thus increasing back pressure. That means that low end torque may be higher at the expense of mid to upper range torque and horsepower.

You're losing theoretical top end spend which most of us will never see anyway. Ive hit the govenor on this car several times around 115 and do so in fourth gear at only around 4K rpms. That means we should have the rest of 4th then all of 5th to pull through. So that means the top he should be around what? 200 mph? You wont see that even on the best of days. So IMO who needs it? Changing to a set of 4.10s would still only give you around only 3K rpms in 5th at 80 mph on the highway. I can live with that. It may even help me (personally) keep from speeding so badly on the interstate. Traffic tickets are getting ridiclious in some places, and Id much rather spend my money on my car than give it to the state =)
