Will the 8.8 rear end out of a 2005 Mustang, bolt right in to a 2005 Mustang with a 7.5 rear end? I'm thinking I will need to change the pinion drive shaft flange. Anyone have any experience with this?

You are correct. I had mine done by a shop in 2014 with a new Ford performance 8.8 rear end with trac-loc and 3.73 gears. It will bolt right up but you DO need the required cobra flange to fit the V6 driveshaft.
I don't know the part number anymore or any other specifics to help you but it will work.

 

Do you know if the upper and lower support brackets are the same from the 7.5 to the 8.8?

 

I believe so but don't take my word as gospel. I can tell you that all I bought was the complete rear end assembly and the pinion flange.
I don't remember the shop telling me about any additional parts.
I would hope someone here with more knowledge would chime in.

 

you are correct just the pinion flange is different, same goes for the 11-14 cars. 11-14 have 8.8s just different pinion flanges

Since I have my Vic's 8.8 already setup with traction lock,gears,and new bearings,etc,I've been wondering if it'd be worth getting it narrowed,and changing the mounts,to put it in the Stang

Not sure of the mounting brackets on the vic. It should have the 4 link like the 79-04 cars. 05 up have the 3 link.

 

Actually my Vic is a panhard bar setup like the Stang,so I figure the lower control arm mounts are probably all that's different.I haven't been under it for quite a while,but I'm sure it has a panhard bar
