OK I am at work and trying to kill some time , So what better place to do it then here. OK I am not a car performance master by any means so what would win in a race.
05/06 Mustang V6
Dodge Stratus (2dr)
Chevy Cobalt (ss model)
Maza Miata
Just wondering. What do you guys think

It would beat the stratus easy, and the miata (unless it was the turbo model). the cobalt SS is almost a second faster in the quarter mile, so i wouldnt really waste your time racing that unless you got some mods.

Really? Thats quite surprising, I figured that the extra 5 HP of the stang would help out in beating it. Though thats why I asked. I am saddened by that info though I really hate those Cobalt rice mobiles. I know it's not an import but if you seen some of the ones I have you would never know it. I really wanted to be able to beat them

yeah the SS Cobalt has a 205-hp 2.0L ECOTEC Supercharged DOHC engine. think i remeber it being in the low 14s. too bad its ugly...

Yes it is quite ugly and despite it's performance I find 4cyl engines to be quite pathetic, especially in the sound department.

I'm not exactly sure what "type" means here. We've got a 2 seat roadster, a hopped up econobox, and a coupe on the "challengers" list. The Stratus is the only one I'd probably put into the same general "type" category

The Cobalt SS weighs considerabley less than the v6 mustang, is FWD (more weight on the accelerating tires for better launches, well at least easier) and im not sure bout this, but it might come with a limited slip diff, like the srt4. Only problem is the SS comes with a dealer markup that ive seen so far, which puts it 3-4k more than a mustang v6. The SRT4 cheapest ive seen is $26k now.

My parents drive 2 miatas, my dads supercharged, and my dad drives a BMW Z3 3.0i coupe as a daily driver.. I bought an old work truck when I was 16 thats a Dodge.. and there's my car.. the Ford Mustang. The only thing comparable is my dads Z3, which I only get to drive on the weekends when he's out of town and doesnt know hehe.
Anyway, in comparison.. the Mustang will easily pull dads supercharged miata. No contest. For my moms stock one? Not worth the gas to rev back. As for the BMW.. Its a race Im waiting for.

The Colbalt SS Supercharged dynos over 200 hp at the wheels. Torque around 180. I'm guessing a manual tranny V6 Stang puts down 185/215 in comparison. The Cobalt does offer a limited slip and weighs alot less. Car and Driver says 0-60 6.0, quarter 14.6 at 99. The stang is putting out more power until about 4500 rpms, so should stay close off the line. I think a T-Lok, CAI and muffler would even things up. An SRT-4 is the crusher at this price point. Its the one car at this price that can destroy other cars, maybe scare a GT. Its going away after this year.

So what yall think bout racin the 06 audi a3? i know its 7k more than ours (in dsg form) but still pretty close numbers. 6.4 to 60 and 15.1 in the quarter mile. My friend just bought one 2 weeks ago, and finally got delivered today (man was that drama). Im going to be visiting him for his bday in california in a few days, and we are gonna test it out. He has the better tranny by far (man u gotta read up on the dsg, its freakin amazing).

Looking at the numbers, it looks like a good race. I read the 2.0T is one strong motor. The Audi has similar weight and power. I think they have a limited slip for front wheel drive. Either way, sounds like fun.
