I don't really know what you would call them but I've seen a couple advertised, you know they stick on your windshield and can give you 0-60mph, 1/4 mile times, lateral g's etc. Anyone have one or know anything about them? (brands, quality, etc) The nearest track to me is a 2 hour drive away so it would be nice to have something I could practice launches with. (just so long as it was accurate to within say 2 tenths)

 

I've used a G-tech Pro RR on 1/8 and 1/4 mile tracks. Always accurate within .1 of the time slip. MPH is usually a little faster on the G-tech than the slip. But, I'm very happy with the results. Also very good for practicing launching and shifting. It will graph on the unit, or you can down load it on a computer, and view graphs of time vs Gs, rpm, velocity, etc. So I can see if my launch rpm was too high, to slow, or if I need to shift sooner, or later, or if I took too long to shift, or even if I should change gears since I'm shifting right before the lights, etc. It also has a shift light, well four of them in stage and they flash at you, hard to miss. If the calibration is a little off, there is a calibration you can go through that helps increase the accuracy even more. Can also act as tach if you're just driving around and want to look at something closer to eye level. Pretty accurate with the stock tach, and it has a calibration setup which can make it even more accurate as well.

It's also very useful to see if making a mod or changing the tune made a difference, without having to go to the track or jump on a dyno.

Good reference. If I did it all again, I would get the Livewire. It could replace my Xcal2, DashHawk, and the Gtech.

Do not get the livewire. Lots of problems, that's why you don't see them around so much. Better off getting the gtech

Yea I would think that would be a decent one. I have the beltronics v995 radar detector. Thing works great.

 

I have both th Livewire and the Gtech Pro RR. The Gtech is easier to use, more consistent, and provides more data.

 

The Gtech pro RR has it all, but costs the most.
The Beltronics cost half as much and still downloads to your computer.
The Gtech pro SS costs more and I don't think it downloads.
