Received my Xcalibrator today and installed the 93 Torque Tune. Have mentioned previously that this computer tuning was all new to me and the reason I went with Doug @ Bama was the time he had taken answering all my questions, etc, and his followup. Well, I have no idea what the exact specs are but living in the mountains and having driven my car 5,000 miles, I knew what it felt like before. As they say, I sure felt it in the "seat of my pants" climbing that something "good" was happening. A Big Thanks to Doug and to this site - I am a Happy Camper

For now I went with the 87 Performance tune from Doug and I can feel a difference. When it's time to fill up again I'll move over to a 93 tune. Why did you pick torque over performance?

Doug had a thread on this a few weeks ago: The TT is to add more punch in the 1500-3000 range. The PT is aimed at higher rpms above 3500-4000 rpm's. Both give better performance across the rpm range than stock.
Will probably try both down-the-road.

I should consider giving doug at bamachips a call soon...
How much was it for the Xcal and the tunes?

You just missed the group buy. It was $350 shipped with three tunes. I think it is going for $379.00 now.

Oh well...I guess I'll have to wait to see when I can dish out that much AFTER I get the Borlas.

I recently bought a C&L Racer CAI, and the SCT3 from Doug at Bama. After driving with the tunes I selected - 87 perf, 93 perf & 93 torque, I prefer the 93 performance the best. Given mine is an auto, the 93 feels more agressive even comming off the line. I think it has more agressive throttle response & harder shifting. Almost feels like a manual. I may be trying the 93 race tune in the future. Either way I'm very happy with my purchase with Bama.
I too have the 87 Perf/93 Torque/93 Performance tunes from Bamachips. I use the 87 octane tune in the winter months since I drive my rig all year round (set of snow tires, no problem, who cares, it's just a machine). I have taken my car to the track a few times, and tested all three tunes.
My best time, each time I ran, was with the 93 Torque tune. Best ET and MPH. Best to date is a 13.43 @ 105.48mph - that was with a bad spin into 2nd, and a 60ft time that had about .10 of a second left for improvement. 5 speed manual, JLTII intake and the afforementioned tue on stock 18" BFG's and 3.31 gears.
The difference between the Performance and the Torque is negligible. Both are within .05 and .50mph of each other. Gust of wind one way or another will make a bigger difference. But, the Torque tune has always came out on top.
The 87 Octane tune consisently lagged about .20 behind the the 93 octane tunes, and about 2mph from what I've seen.
This is ACTUAL testing with my own car, at a track. Not on a dyno or a computer program.
Having said that if I were to do it again, I'd go 87 Performance, 93 Torque, 93 Race. Performance tune feels a little softer than the Torque tune. The 93 Race and Performance tunes are the same, except for a little more aggressive throttle calibration with the Race.

+1 to Doug! Great service! I have the 87 performance, 93 performance and 93 race. I have only run the race tune and have had no desire to try anouther. Maybe one day down the road.
I agree "it's just a machine". Last Winter was my 3ard one in the stang, and the first time I was stuck! Bad Winter in Michigan. 87 tune & snow tires sounds like a plan. What type of tires are using Awsomo? BTW we have the same birthday 'cept mine is '64, seven days after the most popular mustang birthday.
I have been running Michellin X-Ice tires mounted on God-awful ASA rims (they were the cheapest TireRack had....never dawned on me to get some take off GT rims...stupid...
) . They are a good compromise tire for when it's dry out versus total winter destruction like we had in Michigan this past winter. As a pure snowtire though...ehhh. I spun out, narrowly missing a telephone pole and a fire hydrant on Christmas Eve. Didn't stall the car out...just eased the clutch out and drove away. This was due to a mixture of snow and ice, so the tires weren't totally to blame. Driver probably could have done his part better too. I will be on my 3rd winter with them, and they still have about 50% of the tread left on them. They have worn better than the stock 18" g-Force BFGs.
For snows, I would DEFFINATELY get a set of Blizzaks again. I had a set of ZR-rated WS-50s on my 2004 GTO a couple of years ago. I drove through, no lie...22" of snow in Michigan City, Indiana on the way home from Chicago. Every highway and major road was shut down. I took to the backroads and got home. The snow was so deep, the car was jumping, catching air, and the snow was pushing up against the floorboards. Never got stuck once, or out of control. SUVs and trucks off into the ditches or stuck....350+hp musclecar just kept on gittin' it.
