Nope same "powdered forged" bull**** rods that we've got.

And I suppose they are topped off with those "hyperpathetic" pistons we all love so much?? You know back in 1995 when I bought my 96 Cobra I was impressed with the powder metal rods until I installed a KB blower and had to scoop 5 pistons and 3 rods out of my oil pan. Kind of turned me off if you know what I mean.

Count me as EXCITED for the 2011. And just because I sell them for a living. If I could, I'd add a 2011 Grabber Blue California Special but the funds don't allow themselves to be used for it right now. The motor is just incredible, and I do love how it looks, especially the interior!!! Plus, I REALLY REALLY REALLY want a 2014 50th Anniversary GT Coupe with every option possible!! I don't mind if its the current body style, or the all-new body!! As long as the 5.0 keeps evolving and options keep being added to the mix. This car, IMHO, will be something special, especially to me, since its the only car to keep the string alive for 50 years (I know the Corvette is past 50 years, but they DID skip a year). For a car company to keep a car alive for 50 years, its an AMAZING accomplishment!!!

Looking forward to seeing them on the street and dominating the competition, but i love the 05-09 body style. i am very happy with my baby and she's not going anywhere, i have no need to be faster than the new 11's and if i do get that ich it's only a supercharger away IMO 05-09 Best looking mustang since forever. my decision will be in 2014 with the 50th anniv. mustang, that's special

If you look at what we have done with a 4.6 with 3 valves, I am not suprised they did 412 with a slightly bigger engine, one more valve and 5 more years of computer tech. I am amazed that our little 281 cid gets or can get right at 400 hp without a sc or cracking the case or swapping heads. That is if you count a cam swap as a bolt on.

Back in the 80's I marveled at the 271 hp of the HiPo 289 or Shelby 306hp 289. Engine management tech got us here, ofcouse we had to endure the growing pains of 1973 - later 80's

I'm thinking along the lines of a 91 LSC SE, adding a Ford Racing 302 crate motor, pulling the airbags, new suspension, built up AOD, 3.73's, Borla's and supercharge it! Cost to build should run less than 25K, will keep me busy until the 50th Anniversary Mustang hits the order banks!

I am, but probably not going to get one.

Think I'd rather keep my 05 and wrench on it. Unless I can find a good low-mileage Terminator hiding somewhere...

I'm excited, but I think it can wait. I just purchased an '08 two Septembers ago and I've still got quite a ways to go before I pay it off. Besides, considering Ford's track record, I'm sure the '12's will have something even better...and then there's the 13's, the 14's, and possibly by then a fresh new model. There's always something better.

And if there isn't, and a new Mustang II is coming, I'm sure we on this board will have plenty of warning!

..no plans to trade in the 08, but we might get the 2012.. It all depends on what happens when she finishes up her PhD.

After seeing two 2010's in person yesterday I do much rather prefer the looks of the 05-09. I hope Ford does a little re-designing!!!!

I go back and forth. I love the idea of a 5.0 and the HP but it's hard to get excited about the way the front and back exteriors look. Plus, I really don't want the first few years of a new engine. And then there's this thing about all new cars have this big-brother black box tracking device. I think I'll hold on to my '05 now that it's mod'd the way I like. I may put a s/c on it so I can have the '11 GT's HP. We'll see if the next body style excites me more.

Yes, a good potential engine swap for 05-09's.

We plan on it.

..but it'll be her Boss 302, not mine. It's been eating at her sense she bought that POS Accord last Aug (which has 42k miles on it now ) that she didn't get a new GT and seeing mine everyday doesn't help. ..but with those kinds of miles and her still finishing u the PhD, we just couldn't afford the fuel. So she's dead set on getting a new car as soon as she's done.. we just cannot decide between a new Mustang, F150, or F250.

I kicked around the idea in depth and I think the 2011 is going to be a fantastic car.

For me however it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. My 08 is my daily driver that I can have a bit of fun with. My toy is a 1969 Firebird. It doesn't make sense to keep trading DD's around. Especially considering my 08 will be paid for sometime in 2012.

Besides if I really get the itch for a more powerful DD, there's so many options for boosting power from my current 08 to over what the 11 will be making...and for cheaper.

However I will say that if I didn't already have my 2008 GT, I would certainly be in the market for a 2011!!

I wonder how the high compression ratio of the new 5.0 will affect supercharging?

Im very torn as i know the '11 is the best built Mustang to date. Everything is there but the looks. Not sold on the rear. The updated drive train and interior is a big +. We shall see when they come out how they perform. I just hope the traction issues are not there. With those 235 tires though im sure this thing is destined to not hook.
Your paying over 30K now for a GT and they can not put wider tires on? This is were the SS has it beat. In traction.
