First of all, I have to thank Doug for taking my XCal2 from Holland and shipping it back to me, and installing a 95 octane performance tune and a 95 octane torque tune on it.

I just picked up the UPS package an hour ago and reflashed the ECU with the performance tune. The difference in throttle response and the acceleration from a stop are so much improved, that it feels like a different car! In fact, I feel like I'm going to have to re-learn how to drive it, especially in stop-and-go traffic jams. I spun the tires in 1st and 2nd gear already, without much effort (read no WOT yet, just TC off).
I haven't tried the torque tune yet (will do it later today), but I'm already sure I will manage to chirp the tires in 3rd gear too. Man, I can't wait to get off work and test the car tonight!

Those of you who already have Doug's tunes installed, you know what I'm talking about and why I'm so excited. To the others: I strongly recommend giving the XCal2 and Doug's tunes a try!

I couldn't imagine 95 octane
Both the price at the pump and the increased performance.

That's 95 RON, the European equivalent of US 93 octane.
The fuel price here is 1.45 EURO/litre (~ 6.5 $/gallon), I just filled up today at BP.
However, I knew what I was getting into when I ordered my car, and fuel economy was never a deal-breaker for me when I made my decision.
The increased SOTP performance is very noticeable, indeed!

Ahhh. You learn something new everyday. Today's lesson, go order a tuner/CAI package from Bamachips.

And I thought $3.00 a gallon was bad. But like you said, if I was concerned w/ gas milage/prices, I'd a bought a Civic.

yeah, gas is really good over there, but even tho the RON 95 gas is equiv to our 93, I think it is a higher quality still. Our gas sucks over here.

I'm sure I will never understand why all you guys out west can only get 91 octane fuel. California hotrods more cars per capita than any other state but they get some of the worst gas. Here in Ohio we can get 94 octane if we could afford it. Why is that. My stang is the same as the one you buy out west. Makes no sense to me.

P.S. $6.50/ gallon could be in our future if all the crap going on in the world go wrong.

I had never thought about the reason before, but the extra 2 points in octane (93 vs. 91) has a greater potential to incompletely burn, since octane slows down the burn rate of fuel. @#$@ tree huggers!

Don't forget to get your car to the Dyno sometime soon. My 93 Torque tune was pretty close to on the money. My 93 Performance Tune was not so hot but Doug corrected it as soon as I sent him my graphs.

On a side note I just hit 1000 posts again Server Crashes -Grrrrr
