Well let's just say that right now I'm not a very happy camper ?? After 5 days of waiting ? I finally got my 93 race tune from Doug yesterday..However when attempting to add the file into my X-Cal II via the Live Load software ? I got the same error message over and over again which read !! File Is Not A Valid Live Load File..I then tried calling Doug by leaving 3 messages in his voice mail within a 4 hour period and he still hasn't returned any of my messages... So if you're out there Doug ??? call me..

Well, I received my JLT/Tuner combo from Doug today. The box was mangled (Merry Christmas from UPS) but the parts inside looked OK. I installed with what I would call a little JLT fitment issue, but probably normal. I emailed Jay on that to find out. I installed the 87 Performance tune to start. WHOA... OK. Throttle response is THERE. Mid range torque felt nice and smoother. I have been running 93 octane for a week so I had to run to the garage to program in the '93 Race next. Funny thing is....I didn't really notice a difference from the '87 Perf tune, other than the low end throttle being more sensitive. Could be too much thrown at me at once and I only drove a few miles on both tunes. One week on each would tell more.

I was surprised that I was able to easily launch 1st gear with just constant nice chirps coming from the tires (not too north of idle) and a smooth 2nd gear with no drop off in power after the tires grabbed the pavement. I hit 3rd and when I looked I was doing 90 at the point I am usually around 80. Oooops. Car seems to like over 6K shifts like I thought it would. It felt like a mid 8 second 1/8th to me. Too bad I wheel hop and spin on the track, but run fine on the street.

I tried to schedule dyno time to see the different tunes on the graph, but the dyno operator is out this week.

I think maybe Bamachips does rock...??

Doug was really helpful when I had questions before and after the purchase.

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas.
Ya think his engine tunes are great. Try some of his automatic transmission tunes.

Yes, I did... You'll need it if you have and future mods and want to tweak your current tunes via LiveLink.

Bama Tune Update

I could tell a difference in the 93 Torque tune! I will be leaving that one in for a while. MPG went down .6 so far. hahaha..

The harder I drive it, the smoother my shifts are. I just wish I could butter smooth my shifting in traffic like I could with my other cars. Still a glitch if I don't time it just right and you notice it with all the slack in our drivetrain.

I know a few people have asked about raw gas smell from the tune. The cats are supposed to take up for that, but I do smell my cats more when I get out of the car. This is only because of the test drives I have been taking, I believe though. No gas smell though. Even after tuning my '95 to perfection and getting great gas mileage, the exhaust would still burn my eyes at idle. I had an off-road exhaust with no cats. That was one of my biggest gripes with that car. It was embarrassing taking some of my peers to lunch with me.

Another plus is that I have not had any fuel/spark cut so far and less detonation than I had with the stock tune with 87 octane. Only heard a slight bit at lower rpms just briefly.

Thanks Ira, I'm very grateful to you and Doug did call me today and straightend the whole mess out..Apparantly what happend was SCT updated their Live Load Software to a version that's not yet available called 1.3.0 but according to their website ? the latest update is listed as version 1.2.3 ? Anyway, for those of you who may be experiencing similar problems ?? Doug posted a thread about this that reads as follows....And BTW Ira ? I'm very pleased you were able to find out the info on you're order and once again thanks Doug for the excellent customer service and I should have realized there was a logical explanation for everything that went wrong with SCT...Rocky Problems with recent LLF3 SCT tune files, please read... Hey guys,

SCT has updated their software and made it where the new LLF3 files must use the new LiveLoad Version 1.3.0.

OK, now for the kicker, the newest version available is 1.2.3 on the website and anywhere I have it available to me.

If you use new files with the old software then it will say that is isn't a valid LLF3 file.

I've reverted back to the previous software on my end and I'll be resending all of the files I've recently sent out. If you dont get a new file from me today and are having this issue then please email me and I'll remake them and resend them to you.

SCT is closed this week but it is a known issue as it is on the dealer section of their website forum. They should see this as I'm sure it was just overlooked and have the newer software on thier site soon.

I'm truly sorry for the mixup guys!!!

Thanks, Doug.

He did Pat and everything has been straighten out..I should have know there was a logical explanation for what went wrong with the SCT Live Link Software..And yet I ended up freaking out for no reason when I should have realized all along that Doug would come through as he always does for all of us ? and I guess for some reason, I just ended up losing sight of that when I panicked...

I forgot to mention that my GT is an auto.

I can't seem to get this stupid grin off my face every time I drive it.

Well to be perfectly honest with you Pat ?? the sucker wants to jump right off the start to the point where if I'm not pushing the throttle down fast enough while releasing the clutch ?? the entire car bucks back and forth as if it's going to stall out on me so it's going to take some time getting used to but other than that ?? HOLY SH**T it's as though the car is on steroids and you were right, not only can you feel the additional power and torque through out the entire RPM range but the throttle response is so much stronger, quicker and YES much more sensitive as well..
