would you be interested in a Xcal 2 if it had a specific K&N intake tune for non hyrocarbon trapped cars???
I have been in contact with SCT about this and have to call again monday to see if they will do this.I would like to get an idea of how many people would like to do this.I may let my car be the test mule for this.

It would be a tune already loaded in to the Xcal 2.So the price would not change.

I would be interested. I plan on picking up the K&N within a month here, then a tuner as my second mod, havent decided on X2 or Preditor, so this would help my decision process alot.

Just so I am clear, we are talking about a tune that compensates for the removal of the HC trap and the replacement of the air filter with a K&N filter? Or are we talking about replacing the intake system with a K&N CAI?

Okay...I did some research and now I am onboard. I would be very interested in SCT or Predator offering a tune for the K&N aircharger. I would be interested to know what they thought they could get out of it in addition to the claimed 15 rwhp that K&N claims by adding the aircharger on to an untuned car.

For anyone that cares, I just received an email from K&N. I asked if the figures they advertised were at the wheels. They are. I asked if those cars without HC traps would have problems, he said they would not. If it didn't come with one, then just skip that step in installation. Finally, as has already been mentioned in this thread, I asked if it requires a tune, and it seems most everyone already knows it does not.

I might have to consider getting one of these. For no tune, if it can really give you 15 at the wheels, you are talking about 20 bhp, so not too bad for the price. It would be interesting to see what the tuners could add on top of that. I would be shocked if they could get much more than 10 additional at the wheels.

for what it is worth I purchased the kit from RPM outlet that had the K&N and the Predator. I first installed the K&N and the first thing you will notice is the new growl of your stang. I took the car out for a spin BEFORE I put the Predator (canned) tune in just to see the difference. You can deffinately feel a bit more power and thats without the tune. Now if you want to get the bang for the buck put the tune in because once I put the canned tune in the stang it really gave it more punch.

What kind of tune are you using with the K&N?

This package (K&N CAI, no HC Trap, 87 octane specific tune) would sell me on this mod. Otherwise I'm looking to go C&L CAI or other w/ the specific tune.

Keep us posted!

I thought that the Predator required specific tunes for different CAIs, and that there was not one for the K&N yet? I am not disputing you..I truly have no idea and seek info.

It would work better with a specific tune for the CAI, but I think what he did is tuned his car and has the K&N (not tuned to K&N) and he notices a slight difference over just the CAI.

Diablosport only has CAI specific tunes for two CAI's right now: Steeda & C&L. He is using the regular canned 87 octane tune. I have the same setup, but using the 91 octane tune. 91 octane tune + K&N CAI works well, but I would like to see a CAI specific tune (like what they have for the steeda and c&L) for the K&N.

Has anyone actually SPOKEN to Diablosport about this issue? Or are you guys speculating?

btw.

This topic has been discussed waaaaay too many times. :bang:
