Will tune for 06' work for 07'?

I am thinking about purchasing some parts I found on craigslist - C&L intake + predator + custom tune. My question is that the custom tune was set for a 06' GT, I own a 07' with 3.31's. I don't know the company that did the custom tune. Will this create a problem, will I have to order a new tune to deal with the different gear ratio's? Need Help!

BTW, long time reader, FIRST POST!!!

I know you can change the gear ratio/final drive ratio yourself so that shouldn't be a problem but You will have to wait for someone else with more knowledge on this subject to shed some light as to whether 06 tunes will work for 07 models.

I think you need to re-order a tune. They're about $75 I believe.

Thanks for the replys, I spoke to the guy who is selling the parts, he told me the "custom tune" was from C&L and is a racer tune, is that an add on, or is that what comes with the C&L/Predator combo?

Another question, I am buying an X-pipe and underdrive pully set with this, how badly will this void my warranty on my engine/transmission?

I could probably look these up, but then I would have zero posts instead of 2

I'd have to say, the custom tune pre-loaded into the tuner would probably not work on your car,it's based on the particular code from the cars computer. You should plan on having to purchase a tune from one of the venders.

Any mods are either dealer friendly or not. It all come down to warranty and weather or not the part you alter created an issue.

The tune for an 06 will not work for an 07. Further, the "racer" tune is for the C&L Racer Intake. They have a Street intake as well. If you don't have an 06 with the same computer code (there are 4-5 for 06's) and a C&L Racer intake, you're out of luck for that tune. The tuner can still be used if you get a different tune from a speed shop like bamachips, brenspeed, tillman speed, or modular depot.

That is pretty much what I expected as far as the tune...I was planning on getting a babachips tune anyway, the custom tune is definately worth $75

Yeah, Doug's the guy to work with. I bought a used X-Cal and Demolet intake from someone else (who originally bought from Bamachips), and he helped me get the x-cal upgraded and new tunes for my '07. Great tunes, too.

It will NOT work, the predator for the 05-06 is a different model from the 07-08......The code will not make a difference.

I personally would not buy a used intake and tuner. It may or may not work. If he has a different ECM code it will NOT work If he did not set his car back to Stock it will NOT work.
And if not mistaken they made some changes in 07 and the tuners from 05-06 will not work regardless

Not worth the risk of trying to save a couple bucks.

Something to think about too, if you do find a used tuner and need some tunes for it, consider Tillman Speed. The price is right, he has a coupon for 25% off 3 e-mailed tunes. That knocks the price down to around $135 for 3.

Steve, thanks again for the plug. Pretty soon we're going to have to put you on the payroll! Thanks again, and glad you're satisfied.

2007alloygt, I would gladly help you out with this. If you come to a point where a used XCal2 plus 3 tunes is going to cost you anywhere in the $300+ range, it would be smarter to purchase a new one with the latest revisions and software. Let me know what we can do!
