Just looking through some websites and it hits me, we (05 owners) are getting raped on performance parts prices. Is it because our cars are brand new and we can't go to a swap meet and get used parts which leads companies to be competitive?

heck $300 and up for and Axle back? It's 2 mufflers, Flowmaster 40 series are $80/ea

Shifters for almost $300? Vice the old $180

MAC Prochamber for $400+. A prochamber for the older cars are like $200 and our cars are straight forward, with clean lines.

Blowers in excess of $4000 and most companies are mounting them like the old school 5.0 blowers which elevates the need to reverse the impellers.

I guess that I am just ranting but this does kinda stink. I love the 05 and love the way that the aftermarket has embraced it, but it seems like we are the sacrificial lambs for owning America's most popular new toy.

Yeah, they had to make new molds & jigs and whatever and have to recoup their investment. The molds/jigs for SN95 parts have long been paid for.

Last time I checked, no one forced us to buy those expensive parts right now. We could always wait a few years for the price to go down. Instead we pay the price to be the first.

You have to pay to play, at least early on. I'm TRYING to limit myself this year in the hopes prices will be down some next year. It's just too hard though.

X2 from me on this thread $900 for a set of long tube headers...that is a crime.

The fact that you even start this thread refering to being "raped" is sick, if you don't like the prices, don't buy them. This is a new car and the companies that are making these parts have to pay for their expenses. Early adopters always do, not just Mustangs. I am a big audio/video geek as well as a mustang fan. When DVD players came out, they were 1000 dollars plus, and now you can get one for 20 dollars. Remember also, that when the new products come out and the don't work as stated or have issues, that the general public has become beta testers for almost everything. Wait for a while and let the prices come down and have someone else test the products for you.

Look at it this way, most of us paid too much for the GT, we paid too much for every mod we've put on it, and we've never been happier. When someone that truley appreciates muscle cars, tells you that your car is awesome, its worth the money you paid. We are lucky enough to own the greatest car on the street, expensive mods is the price that we have to pay to to get
