Why can't I launch?
So I went to the track again for the 2nd time in my life, only got in 2 runs. They were really late getting started, then as I was 2nd in line for my 2nd run an 05 GTO spun out and hit the wall. After what felt like 30 minutes, they finally got the car cleared off the track just as it started misting. After more track prep and waiting for the rain to clear I got in my 2nd run, after which it started to rain again.
Anyway, 14.444 and 14.539, 2.28 and 2.32 60' times, spinning all the way through 1st and most of 2nd. That 2nd gear shift just lights the tires up and I have to keep letting off to get traction again. Trapped at 98 and 99 Mph on both runs. Alot of people there were complaining about how slick the track was, but I personally saw them run VHT down the ENTIRE length of the track 3 TIMES! I launched at 1500 RPM the first run and off idle the second run, same result, just lots and lots of wheelspin.
So other than the obvious "you need drag radials", what the heck can I do to get this freaking car to hook? My previous best time was 14.1 at 104 Mph with the same wheelspin problem. I can't see making an investment in drag radials if I can't even get into the 13's. I've seen people with the stock Pirelli's breaking into the 12's. What is my problem here?

I can't help it. Get some drag radials or be content with 14's. I can run 12's on stock Perelli's but it takes some serious horsepower. Also the track prep must be crappy. My bud was running low 13's the other night on an excellent track with the stock tires granny shifting. What tire pressure? Lower your rears to 20 psi and the fronts to 38 to 40 psi.

rev to about 3 grand and slip the clutch, dont drop it. you can net 1.9 60fts doing that. i did it many times on stockers. +1 on the Dr's though i rev to 5 grand and slip the clutch and i can pull 1.60-1.62 60ft times

You trap time of 104 MPH is consistent with a 13.2 - 13.4, the ET is just how quick you get there and is affected by hooking up. If you can't hook up you need traction, only way you're going to get traction is with a slick, sorry

I'm trapping at 104 and 105 consitantly and can't get off 13.6s. 60' is 2.2. I'm running at 1200' on a un-prepped track uphill. Track just closed until May, so I'll be getting a couple of stock bullit wheels and M/Ts for next summer. My car is running pretty strong, but I can't get past that d@mn 13.6!!!!

The best advice to get a better launch and ET is to practice, practice, practice.
On a decent track, slipping the clutch at about 3500rpm, has netted me several 1.85-1.95 60fts. On the bottle I have ran a few 1.78 60fts. all on my stock Pirelli's.
You just need to go to the track and try it some more to get used to it.
