I originally had this system before I upgraded to the cooled system. Iworked flawlessly and I had no issues with it. It is an easy upgrade to the cooled version as well if you decide to add onto it later

How was the power with this system? Also was there a big difference in power between the two?

When you upgraded to the intercooler, who much was it and where did you get it from?

Torrence,

I know you were having a hard time deciding on s/c or nitrous. Are you worried about the motor holding up under boost? I was considering s/c, but it seems that quite a few motors haven't been holding up too well.

The power was great. I will say there is a big difference between the two kits though power wise. If you can swing it I would definately get the cooled kit

I am worried about the motor and I am trying not to be selfish at the same time. I want to take a trip to Key West with the family, but also want the s/c. I mean I have enough for both, but then I am thinking of the intercooler. If I get the intercooler kit, Key West maybe out, maybe. If I get Nitrous, I will have money left over for Key West and Foose wheels.

So many ways I could go.

It's just now I have a chance to get a s/c in a brand new car and I may never be able to get this chance to get it again. It's so hard to save for one of these things and now I have the cash to do it.

Since you had the kit without intercooler first, where did you buy the intercooler from and how much was it?

I was really interested in the Saleen s/c, but the price plus install was a little much at the moment. I may just get some drag radials and a torque converter right now, and I'll be in the 12's.

I have a non intercooled Vortech SQ on my 96GT. I've had an issue with generating too much heat in the summer the whole time I've had the blower on car. It's only a problem when I get on it on a hot summer day, which I rarely do as the water temp will swing to the far right (hot). I suppose I could just spend the extra dollars and get an intercooller, but that would take money away from the S-197 fund.

to piggyback a bit. If you are intent on keeping power around 390 to 410 at the rear wheels SAFELY, should you go with the intercooled kit and just keep tune conservative? change pulley size? go non cooled?

always get the cooled kit no matter what. more money yes but less chance of problems. anyone will tell you heat is an issue on these cars and adding something that creates that much more heat doesnt help. a s/c compresses air. when you compress air it heats up considerably. think about it this way on a 80 degree F day my intake air temps with the intercooled kenne bell unit were 130 degrees F. on an 80 degree day with my C&L intake my Intake air temps only reached 82 or 83 degrees F.

+1

Extra heat and poor 91 pump gas is a recipe for detonation... and that's not good at any power level.
