2006 GT - $29,146 (incl NY Tax of $2,314)
Performance Mods - $1,784
Appearance Mods - $548
Stereo Equipment - $1,448
Total for Mods - $3,744

I try to balance out mods vs. resale loss. I did all of my mods in the first month so that I get full value and enjoyment of them during the time I own the car - which will be until 2011.

Car - out the door: $35,600 (2006 Mustang GT Coupe Premium Fully loaded.. in Dubai)
Mods - Exterior: approx $10,500 to date (Full Shelby GT500 conversion, Shelby CS6 hood and scoops, rims, tires, painted stripes, etc)
Mods - Performance & Handling: $11,500 (H.O Whipple, Brembo 4 Piston brakes, Autometer Nexus Gauges, etc)
Mods - Interior: $3,600 (Rockford Fosgate Punch stage 3, Garmin Street Pilot 2820, etc)

Total - $61,200

All in all, a GT500 Tribute with a twist
i personally think she looks better, weighs less and goes faster.
sure i could have done the same for a good 10-15k less.. but being all the way across the globe sure doesn't help

Real gear-heads don't care about resale value! I have no plans of ever selling this car. I have never seen a car as an "investment" anyhow. It's a hobby that I truly enjoy. Period.

I have 43K + in this thing including 490HP upgraded Saleen S/C...I'm basically done now. Maybe a diff. cover or small items and a few speed tickets??

With only $1100 in S/C install and paint the rest is all parts, shipping, taxes etc.
But I enjoyed doing all the mods I did. I did all the black stuff myself cuz no one wanted to do it. I just wanted something different enough for even the Ford guys to maybe scratch their heads and say "WTF??"
My G/F thinks I'm an idiot but I think she was dumb buying at 65K Caddy XLR to go to get her nails done every other week.
You younger guys may someday feel the same way. Life is too short NOT to not do what you want to do. So, I blow a lot of $ on cars, motorcycles and golf. Hey, I don't work anymore!!!!!!!!MY son doesn't need the money so I intend to die 2 hrs. before my last check bounces..............

"I bought you this cool car and you won't leave it alone"???

As she leaves to spend another $100 on her hair and $50 on her nails....

My hobby is cheaper than her personal upkeep.

Hell I have even started cutting my own hair just to demonstrate MY ability to save money.

Haha your the man for that.

Ditto... I plan on driving the car as a daily driver for 5 or 6 years, and then it will become a dedicated track car. And when I die, I want to buried in it. Hell... it's paid for and the coffin won't be. haha

Let's see...

Car off the lot (ok, ordered to MY specs!): $24,700 with TTL (for loaded GT premium coupe! You have to love X Plan!)
CAI: 220
XCal2 + tune: 350
Shifter 1 (Tri-Axe): 270
Shifter 2 (MGW): 290
JL Audio 8" subs up front: 500
Component door speakers: 300
Steeda UCA: 100
D-Spec struts: 500
Eiboch springs: 300
Fog to driving light conversion: 200

Total: $27,730

Not bad at all...

Of course, the "planned" built stroker long block ($7000), twin turbos ($8000), 6 speed tranny ($4000), suspension (say $3000), brakes ($2500) and wheels/tires ($3000) will run that number up a BIT higher!!!

And I can't wait!

Unfortunately, my check book says I HAVE to wait!

Well I never expected to drive the car for very long in stock trim anyway, so additional expenses were factored in from the start.
The car cost me $32,000-ish including shipping to Germany via AAFES Military Sales. Being an overseas customer limited the options that were available to me.
Conversion to Euro Road specs another $3,000.
Eibach Pro-System Plus another $1500 fitted.
Interior mods including Hurst Shifter $500-ish
(Planned) Roush/Saleen Supercharger (winter 2009/10 project) another $6-8,000.

I always looked at this car as a kind of blank canvas, something upon which to build and fine-tune until I get it the way I want it to drive.
If I wanted a car to just 'get-in-and-drive' without playing with it at all, I'd have bought the BMW 330i M-Sport Coupe which was also within my price-range...(well, in Germany it is anyway).
Besides, hobbies are what we're supposed to spend loads of money on, aren't they?

Not sure I want to reveal the mod cost -- wife might see . . . .. .

Oh well, suspension parts about 2K
Brake upgrades about 1K
Performance upgrades about 1.2 K (intake, exhaust, shifter, tune, etc)
Appearance (webelectric, etc) .5 K

So I'm pushing 5K in mods on a vert that wholesaled out around 35 K

It's a 40K stang -- but I'm planning on keeping it.

Still want to whipple and change tires -- so that will make it close to a 50K stang if I get the $$$ and courage to do the Whipple.

Kids will be out of college soon -- then it will be time for Dad to play.

$28170 for the car, $700 for CAI and tune. $200 for the dyno tune. Down the line I'm hoping to drop no more than $1500 on my L/T's, installed. then I 'm gonna hold on the mods until I can go big later.

Don't second guess or have ANY qualms about what you do to your car, as long as you're having fun, enjoying your ride and not hurting anybody. Ya better drive and mod if you can, that thing til the wheel's fall off.

~$20k

Not on all mods, but also includes buying repeat parts, shop screw up, and labor charges on building the motor twice.
