Post Whipple vs. Kenne Bell

Alright, so i've been doing a lot of research lately for supercharging within the next couple of months and i've narrowed it down to whipple and kb. Now, i need you to convince me to buy one or the other. what are the benefits of either one, which one makes more whine and at what rpms, efficiency especially with heat, etc.

i'm not looking to go with like over 15 psi ever so the max potential is not that big of a deal to me. right now i'm gonna stick with 8 psi on stock internals. i was originally set on the kb but now with the new 2.6L, it just seems too quiet?

i've also done a couple searches and none compared these two directly.

Whipple Intercooled.......

Man I was driving my Shelby yesterday on the LIE (Long Island) and there was just a straight strech and I hit that gas I was doing a 140 with ease.... I am so glad I got this kit.

Whipple is a complete kit. Everything you need including the dual GT500 fuel pumps.

The thing is just a blast to drive, best mod I could of ever gotten. I am tempted to go to 12psi, but the thing is fast now, anything thing more IMO would be flirting with the REAPER.... The torque is unbelievable. I really can't hear the whine over my exhaust though, not like the 03' or 04' Cobra's.... I wish I could hear it, those COBRA whippled cars are insane....

You will not be disappointend.

Down there in the ATL you should have plenty of room to run on to, especially I20 and 85 or 75.....

In a few weeks I am going to order the Whipple HO kit. It seems like an awesome kit.

Yeah I wish I had the chance to have to choose between those two.

You're right, the KB 2.6L is quiet. As far as performance goes, I'm very happy with mine @ 10 psi! I have so much wheelspin in 1st & 2nd, I'm having the 4.10s changed to 3.73s

Blue line is @ 8 psi
Red line is @ 10 psi

The main reason that I would choose a whipple is because you can hear it. The k/b is pretty silent. They are both great blowers though...

The Whipple has teflon coated rotors, larger intercooler, larger heat exchanger and a MUCH better fuel system. It's quiet as hell until you are on the gas a little more than normal driving....then it whines at just the right volume.

yeah i would've gone with kb no brainer until i found out they are near silent.

i would LOVE to have that 03-04 cobra whine. thats why i looked around and found whipple. as slamman mentioned that the full whipple intercooled kit is cheaper than the kb kit plus i know it comes with the gt500 fuel system which is a huge plus.

as far as power goes, do they make the same hp numbers when at the same psi? for example, at 8psi, what hp and tq numbers are each making. and are both equally prone to pretty bad heat soak or is that not that big of an issue when intercooled?

The whipple is bigger then the kb 2.4 so my guess would be that it would make more power at the the same psi, or at least it would take less work to make the same numbers... just a guess though

I'd do the Whipple between these two........ curious why you ruled out the Saleen though.

I was under the impression the Whipple was a 2.3 but in response to RFL's question Yes both KB Blowers and the whipple will make Very similar power numbers at various boost levels.

+1 I've heard that the Saleen will put out a pretty decent scream at WOT as the boost gets turned up.

The ones that RET is doing custom fabrication to make work ARE 3.4s - but the regular FRPP one is 2.3
