If repost, sorry, but whipple says their kit is putting out 475 HP and 500 TQ..........Stock. Sounds shady, bit if it's true and the engine stays together, this is great news.......

Now that they have made pricing official, are units in production? Are they going to market this themselves, or send it to FRPP for rebadging?

Ouch, that's expensive.

I think it might be worth the price though.

Ooooh, I noticed the mention of torque management and transmission control. I read that to mean it must available for automatics as well

I'd be surprized if it WASN'T true..... every time I go to a boost calculator and punch in the numbers for a stock Mustang with 8psi of boost with a twin screw charger it shows a 50% hp gain.... 472 at the crank is what I found... so that sounds right to me.

I'm in...

Can this be used without upgrading to forged internals? I think 472hp is too much power for the stock bottom-end. What do you think.

This is a debate that seems to pop up in evey post now. But in all honesty no one really knows how the car will handle it until someone puts a supercharger on and drives it for a year. So I suggest we don't start the debate here just to save space.

If it is 475rwhp, it'll probably be too much for the bottom end. I wouldn't consider one until there is at least a 2 year record of safe performance.

I think it is probably 475fwhp, which is about 400rwhp. That is supposed to be the safe limit for these engines.

Are those numbers with a totally stock car and hood? I wonder if you can make adjustments to the programmer for exhausts/ headers? Looks like the unit sits a little high for a stock hood.

Hi SixtySix,

I got email from Whipple last week and they told me that the auto is only rated at 400HP so they will do a lower power kit that should come out around May. The manual kit will be 7.5lbs of boost and the auto closer to 5lbs. To me if the auto is rated at 400HP and we have 300 now does not leave much room for increase.

I still would like to beef-up the tranny if that is the case.

Jim

OK, I volunteer to settle the debate.
If everyone who reads this board will send me $1.00 US, I'd have enough to buy this thing and put it on my car. I'll start running it right away so I can tell you how long my engine lasts.
If I blow it up, I'll have to ask for another $1 to get a new one, but then we'll all know, won't we.

Sounds very nice, except the price being a bit more than I expected. I will wait for my factory warranty to run out and then maybe try out the Whipple, unless that dual turbo is out then.
