the gears will have a much greater difference than the aluminum driveshaft will. i do notice a difference with the DS on my car, but i would do gears first if i were you. the aluminum DS weighs less than the stock one. it cuts down on rotational mass. i noticed that it will rev quicker and respond to throttle inputs faster.

the DS can definitely wait imho. in your case, it would be one of the last things i would do.
Ya thats kinda what I was assuming ds wise. I guess gears really do make a difference. Ill have to really look into those. Thank yall for all the help!

Id say gears or new springs. Springs would be cheaper, if you can get some help with the install you can do them in a garage in a couple hours. Plus they can be found used quite often. The gears need to be done by a GOOD shop and will be atleast twice as much as the springs.

Short throws are great. They definately help in a racing situation. But if you arent planning on racing it i would hold off on it

Saleen makes this shifting kit block that cuts down shifting distance by 26%. Its only 50 bucks to so im thinking this might be my nect upgrade before either gears or heads and catted x.

Ive heard mixed review about the shift block. I went with a bbk short throw. I dont think bbk makes it anymore though because i havent been able to find it since i bought it. I have never had a problem with it though. If you do go with the shifter block there are plenty of write ups on this forum to help u with installation. I believe the write up is from tacobill but im not %100 on that.

I mean for $50 its not a big loss if it doesnt work. But if it does work you will be happy with it. I would say just go for it. There is a thread on this site that might be of some help to you. I saw it not to long ago. You should be able to search shifter block and get everything that you may need to know.

What does a stock gt run? Not to sound stupid but I thought they ran 3: 73's stock?
The 2006 GT has 3.55 gears for the 5 speed manual.
