What size drag radial for stock bullitt?

Ok, so I've finally got weekends off after 3 1/2 years, and it's time to start hitting the strip. I've got the 17" Bullitt wheels that were taken off the '05 that I want to use to put some good stickies on. The '05 already has BFG KDW2's, and they perform great on the street. Are they good enough for the track? My main concern is with the 4.10 gears, I'm worried about losing it in second gear, because I slam it pretty hard into 2nd. I've never raced before, so I have no clue on what to expect. I'd like to get some drag radials to share between the '05 and the '07, because I'm going to want to race them both out there. Probably not the same day, though. My fiance may come with me and race one of the cars though. Any help is appreciated.

For racing at the strip, I have 275/40 BFG drag radials; they don't work that well for me but I have a decent amount of power from the blower and 4.10s. My next set will be MT ET Streets (the non-radial version) in the same size or slightly taller.

For a 17x8 wheel, I think the 275/40-17 M/T drag radials might be a bit wide... but I'm not sure, I've never tried them on an 8" wheel. I've only seen them on 9" wheels. The 275/50-17 M&H DRs would fit fine IMO, but at 28" dia, they may be too tall for you. The Nitto 555R 245/45-17 would also fit on a 8" wheel, and is just under 26" dia, but I'm not sure how good they will hook. They'd probably be OK for an N/A car, but I don't know for sure.

If you want to try something besides a drag radial, you might consider the 26X11.50-17 M/T ET Street bias tire (#3743). It's 26.5" tall, and I know lots of guys running them on the 17x8 wheels without issue. And they are still DOT legal.

Thanks. I really don't care about radial or not. I know nothing of drag racing, as I said. I just want something legal to run on the street that'll fit the stock wheels.

If you want to drive it on the street, go with the a drag radial.
I run Mickey Thompson ET Street drag radials, p/n 3743R. They are 275's and fit just fine on the stock 17" rims. They HOOK!!
