What next? Racing a GTO

I have a 08 GT with a JLT CAI, Race tune by BamaChips, Magnaflow X pipe (W/ Cats), Pypes axle back. I'm getting some 3.73 gears put in Friday or saturday. I raced a buddy of mine's GTO when he was stock and I outran him. My mods are listed above.

He put a CAI and exhaust on his car and want to race again. I want to outrunhim again. I don't have a lot of money but I have about 400.00 I can spend and I would like to know what I should use it on.

I was thinking pullies and lower control arms? Any susgestions?

Thanks
Chris

This is my street car. I have a race car with 2 stages on the car. (It's not streetable though)

So as of now it will have to be N/A or a cheap 400.00 blower. LOL

If you find that cheap $400 blower, let me know...... Seriously though, for $400 you're pretty limiited..... pullies, delete plates, lca's, or even a good set of rear tires. You say you're getting gears put in (great idea) so with the extra $400 maybe you'll need the tires.

+1 Tom,
Pullies (if you don\'t plan on SC), delete plates, or a short shifter.

I think you will take him if you hook.

I have 26x11.5 17 ET street tires. I can use if I need to. They came off my 97 Cobra.

What would be better? Pullies or Delete plates? I could get pullies and lca's? Or the Delete plates and retune.

Tough call between pullies and delete plates. Having had both of them previously, I think they both give you the same gain, which is around 4-8 hp in my experience. Or, gather up a little more dough and get an aluminum driveshaft.

$400? bbk shorty headers and underdrive pulleys should net you a couple of horsepower especially in the midrange.

I'll let you know. That sounds good.

Don't know. I will use either a Zex kit or a Nitrous Express kit. I have a couple of kits. I like the Nitrous Express kit better but the Zex is a lot easier to hook up.

I've got to get gears!

We raced last night and it was close till I hit 3rd and he started pulling me. He only pulled out about a car length. When we shut down he was well into 4th and I was still in third gear. I beleve with gears I would run with him of not outrun him. Because 1st and 2nd he could not pull me. So with gears I should pull him in 1st and 2nd and then in 3rd I think we would be about the same. I'm going to start selling crap around the house and see if I can come up with some money to get cams and other stuff.

I'm sorry to ask a dumb question in the middle of someone else's thread, but what exactly are delte plates? Who makes them, what are their cost, and are they worth installing on a stock or barely modified GT?

Again, I apologize for the hijack.

John, not trying to be short or rude, but search this tech forum...... there is tons of info. Real quick, there are valves in the intake runners that are only open at certain rpm and WOT. Delete plates remove these valves so there is no restriction at any rpm or throttle setting.
